Because I know some fimfic writers read this blog, I have a question about contest scheduling.
Do you think for you personally, and for people in general, a contest that starts roughly now, and ends in early to mid February, is good timing or not?
In your answer, please say whether you write fimfics. 🙂 (I might peek at your fimfic user page to see them.)

But I thought it was interesting to think about ways to make the idea non-terrible.
I mean...in THEORY, a shipfic could be...
(1) Positive. Some people write shipfics because (1) they fervently believe a set of characters (say, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash) should be in a serious romantic relationship, or at least that the relationship would be a good thing.
(2) Neutral? Some people might write a shipfic because (2) they think a relationship between the characters would be ENTERTAINING, but maybe not an entirely GOOD thing for the characters in it.
(This is a change from the "Pacific Standard Time" listed in the original contest rules, which caused some confusion. PST would have ended the contest an hour earlier than Pacific Time, because PST doesn't include daylight savings time.)

I love them. I really enjoy all the shipping but I just can't see either of them with another pony. I think it's because I keep measuring them against another ship. What's really funny is how certain couplings seem to draw together. Twijack is real - that's all there is to it. The thing is when I put Twi and Dash into the same space, the sex just starts to happen. They have a dynamic that is , well, Dash is sexy, let's face it - she's in great shape and very bold. I'm here to ask for some support. I entered an original short story to a contest and the contest requires me to garner votes from people who know my writing and would be interested in seeing it published. You can't actually read the story on the site yet, it's a vote-by-concept type of deal where you just read the blurb provided and vote based on that.

Hello everyone and welcome to the first (as far as I'm aware) Cyberpunk Equestria Story Contest.
I started this contest with the desire to bring life to the Cyberpunk Equestria group as well as encouraging the creation of more cyberpunk stories here on FiMFiction.

Judging a story contest can be really hard! Especially when we consider that different stories are good in different ways, in an 'apples vs. oranges' kind of problem.
