An opening sequence can make or break your episode, first impressions are very important. And today we're going to take a look at the episode openings that for one reason or another, among the 143 episode openings, missed the mark and started their episodes off on the wrong foot. Like all my lists, this one isn't official by any means so feel to disagree.
10. Spike Bakes A Jewel Cake (Just for Sidekicks: Season 3, Episode 11)

Season 8 introduced some new opening sequences that were duds to put it bluntly. And there just wasn't enough room to fit even one or two of them into a Top Ten List. So I decided to bump it up to Fifteen, and since I want to be more positive than negative this one had to come first (I'm thinking I might possibly update the mane eight rankings after "The Best Gift Ever" and maybe the top ten unicorns list as well, let me know what you think of that). Maybe I'll eventually do a top ten for the worst opening sequences, but don't quote me on that. Anyway, the opening sequence in any episode is important, it can make or break the tone. A good opening sequence doesn't just need to establish the main plot, or at least lead into its introduction, but it also needs to be enjoyable in its own right. It needs to be quick and to the point, but in the process it has to provide something that can stand on its own. So we're going to take
I see that I haven't yet posted the episode sequence for June & July yet. Apparently, I've just had so much aggravation with it that I just assumed I'd already posted it (I don't know why my mind hates me. 
I've never done anything to it -or with it, either). Well, posting stuff is enough -ING pain that I'm not going to change it.
It's my understanding that Hasbro has said that the first 3 seasons were 1 year.
Even allowing for 90 days of Winter with no adventures this is mathematically possible.
Since the show starts "2 days until the Summer Sun Celebration"
I'm going to run the calendar from June to June
It helps if you assume that most of the Crusader episodes take place during other episodes.
It also helps A LOT if you assume that Magical Mystery Cure took place over 1 day.
Season 8 brought about a few interesting opening sequences that I think were worth talking about, and ultimately I felt like they didn't quite justify bumping off some other contestants for a Top Ten list. Season 9 had a couple more opening sequences I thought were worthy of being noticed and mentioned, though for the most part I'd say that Season 9's opening sequences mostly fell somewhere in between or on the bad end of the spectrum (usually when the episode was bad the opening sequence would be bad and if it was good the opening sequence would be good). Since I did a Top Twenty Worst, I knew I had to make a Top Twenty Best to include five from Season 9. But I really struggled over that because
Season 9 gave us a few more opening sequences, but not all of them were winners. Some of them for one reason or another didn't work out and join the ranks of opening sequences from seasons prior that are also not very good. Of course the actual episodes involved could be good or bad, a bad opening doesn't necessarily mean your whole episode is going to bomb (though a poorly done opening sequence can kill a lot of hype and interest). Once again, the acting here is not particularly good.
And now I see a lot better some of what DEL was getting at with certain references and even parts of the storyline.
