While Twilight Normal is a bit of a lonely person, one that just wants friends, Midnight is a whole another animal.
For one, she seems to not care about her world at all. In fact, she'd rip it apart entirely just to find something new and interesting to study. It's like she has denounced her humanity entirely.
Alright, so All These Midnight Days has just updated. I decided that, despite the schedule I've been thinking of using, I couldn't just let it sit another day on my hard-drive. So, Chapter 2 is out. Chapter 3 is in progress, but will continue in a staggered fashion alongside Fluttershy's Foal, whose third chapter is also in production (and coming along nicely).
Alright, let me come out and say I'm in the pro-Midnight Sparkle party. I had no idea she was coming, mainly because I work to avoid the Equestria Girls section of the pony aisle. She's hardly the worst villain. Sombra still has that dishonor in my book.
I wrote a chapter for Wooing while sleep deprived. It was not a good outcome. I almost had Sunshine (Twilight) 'power up' into Midnight Sparkle v2.0, which was going to be similar to how Sunset's second transformation was less demonic and more angelic. The writing was horrible, did not quite match the tone of the previous chapter, and honestly was rubbish. It has since been burned, dissolved, and boiled away.
When I first got into the MLP community, one of the first things I watched was Friendship Games. Sure, the pacing and logic slips a little, here and there, but it made up for that in its imaginative imagery and musical numbers, as well as the sheer emotional resonance it had with me. It really shouldn't surprise anyone in this fandom that I was a sensitive lad, and got bullied pretty hard all through Middle School. So, seeing the crap Twilight put up with felt very real, at least to me.
The first 2100 words are down, and the four sections are sketched out. You already know the main scene here--expect a very interesting twist in the final claiming of our birdy boi Peregrine, which I'll be keeping secret--but for a side one?
Well, I think it's time we hear from another interested party. So how'd folks like to see Midnight emerge again? A small teaser follows:
Whilst I've been generally happy with the way things are going with Mind Over Midnight, I mentioned in the last chapter some struggles in moving things forward. Cohesion and better planning are necessary, as such I've been taking my loose notes from here/there/everywhere and getting them all into a unified whole. First up was a better character account for Calmy Storm, ironing out most of the loose ends he has. Though I can't profess my first serious OC will actually be 'good', I hope he is

I know that's not what the developers were picturing, but now I can't stop thinking about Midnight Sparkle as the Night's Nexus. This amuses me far more than it should.

“After dinner!” Twilight Velvet said quickly. “We’ll come right back, I promise!”
"Yeah! Portals can wait!” Night Light shouted from the rolled-down, driver’s side window of a silver sedan. “Our daughter needs friends that aren’t four-legged!"
“HONEY!” Twilight Velvet hissed. “Don’t say stuff like that out loud! We TALKED about this!”
Caught a comment from Nova which was inspired by a suggestion from Steel Resolve AFTER I published. I had to go back and expand on a scene. For all those who got on that Mother of Midnight train super early, here's the addition:

New Chapter of Midnight will go live Friday, October 2nd. Probably around 10am to 12pm, Pacific Time. I don't know if it's truly done, or if it's as good as it can be. It's just as done and as good as I can make it.
