Stylish: Original Color Genre Tags · 7:09am Jun 6th, 2017

edit: The genres have new colors site-side now. "AU, crossover, EqG, tragedy, sad, human, mystery, thriller, second person, [slice-of-life,] and sci-fi" all still have blue.

This script is useful for if you want to change them to something else, or still want those un-colored genres to 'pop'. Say, if you wanted to make all tags you disliked black.

Genre Tag Pictures · 11:37am Jan 2nd, 2016

Thanks to Meeester making me jump through a few hoops to get my latest story approved, I now have all the FimFiction genre tags in picture form HERE, though I suppose if I knew more I probably could have found the buttons themselves embedded somewhere in the site's "Edit Story" page source code. Oh well. Life is an

Only I Know · 11:45pm May 23rd, 2016

Wow. A lot of people seem to really like this story. I often write fics that get a lot of likes but almost no reviews. Fimfiction has spoiled us with that thumbs up/down option. "Why back in my day, if ya'll like a story ya'd review it. Ain't no point likin' it if ya'll don't tell the darn writer why." - And that was my very poor hillybilly on a porch impression.

I’m stuck...... · 12:01am May 18th, 2018

Hi every pony, I have a big problem. The problem is that when I submit stories, they’re never proofread for grammatical and spelling errors. And that’s bad, for me at least. If you want to proofread my latest book-in-the making, this is required:

1) Trustworthiness.
2) If you’re at a HS level or higher.
3) If your compatibility is perfectly synced with your proofreading.
And number 4) Good at keeping passwords hidden.

Do any of you have a genre or multiple genres that you are overly attached to?
I'm really attached to Sadfics for some weird reason.

Today, I'd like to talk about genre--what it means, how it applies to stories, and what you can do to improve your story's genre. A lot of this will be based off of Shawn Coyne's Story Grid, which you can find for free on his website if you're interested.

If I were to write my own version of Fallout Equestria (with blackjack & hookers) would y'all read it? See what my take would be? Now this doesn't mean I would, but if I did, (or do if the cards are right) would you all read such a thing? or should I stick to cheesy romances and silly fluff?

So many new genre tags! · 11:39am Dec 7th, 2015

The last time I set up a story, we had... like, ten genres. Romance, Adventure, Slice of Life, Dark, Comedy, Random (you also basically needed the first if you had the second), Sad, Tragedy (once again, need the first if you have the second), Crossover, and Alternate Universe. And then Human was added a bit later before I kind of vanished.

The Mystery of Mysteries, part 1: Core narratives of genres · 5:08am Apr 25th, 2016

Mysteries. Everybody thinks they know what they are. I’m beginning to think maybe no one does.

Scholastic’s genre chart says:

Purpose: To engage in and enjoy solving a puzzle. Explore moral satisfaction (or dissatisfaction) at resolution. Consider human condition and how to solve or avoid human problems.
