I think we need real talk for a minute about mlp fim. I've been super disappointed in the crystal ponies. Also straight up where are my sparkle ponies. Like the ponies that are basically crystal ponies full of glitter. As a child of the 80s I have certain expectations around my crystal ponies and the current gen has let me down storywise and with merch.
So this is my life.
Thank to G5, earth ponies having earth-based magic is now an acceptable canon. So here my headcanon on how the crystal ponies work.
The next chapter will be up by Monday! Until then, here's a look into a commission I have in the works:
Gemstone Ponies
I set of pony races heavily in tune and influenced by magic. Before the founding of Equestria, these ponies called the most powerful nation in the world their home. The Crystal Empire.
Types:
What would a changeling wear for nightmare night? Would they chose to dress up as a scary fanged bug-eyed monster? Or would they prefer a Starswirl the Bearded outfit? Given that their traditional lifestyle involves pretending to be something else in order to extract love from others, maybe they prefer to take the night off and sit back giggling at the amateur antics of costumed fillies and colts extorting candy from the grown-ups.
The brothers have aged up a little bit here, and they greet Princess Amore on this beautiful morning. However, Amore finds their timing to be perfect as she has something special planned for them.
What that is shall be revealed when the time comes. 
By this point in the story's timeline, something big has transpired, and the brothers, of course, were involved.

Hey, if you didn’t see, I updated The Last Unicorn Princess last week. 
It’s a shorter chapter, but I’m pretty proud of it. 
There is a routine I plotted out that was a lot of fun to write. 
The next Sombasi chapter is nearly complete!

A story about sufficiently advanced machines. A story about the first crystal pony. I wouldn't call it a Christmas story, but it's damn cold up north, so I figured it would count well enough.

What is the Crystal Empire? (Besides Hasbro's advertisement for "crystal" toys.) It's completely unexplained, messes with the whole "There are three pony tribes, and they founded Equestria" thing that was explained in the Hearth's Warming episode, and it's in a geographically strange location.
