Hey, all.
Things started off well this year, been a little bit on the bad side past few weeks, but still alive, so that's good. Got my third shot, bit of a recurring headache, but that also is nothing major.
I suppose it'd be in-character to steal culturally appropriate open my horizons by celebrating a holiday so many of my fellow writers and readers celebrate. You know, again.
What am I thankful for this year? Mostly the same as last year, I guess.
First story: finished, may need one or two lines tweaked to tie it all in to the bigger picture.
Second story: in its seventh or eighth re-write, this time only from chapter 4-ish onward, though.
Third story: outlined, most of the big scenes are done in the concept stage.
So yeah a new chapter for my story bastion and it’s the longest chapter I’ve done!
Story's not 100% finished, no. But I've uploaded the first six chapters, and will be publishing the first three chapters throughout next week. I still have the issue with editing in the Brave browser, the screen lags like crazy when I hit 'Edit,' but hopefully I can get the kinks out. So it's in final editing now, yay!
Re-reading Changeling Blood again, along with some of the remarks and reviews.
Changeling Blood's kinda bad, turns out. At least in hindsight. Bad lay-out and scene-setting. I can't remember what the goal was, originally, maybe it was intentional, but... lotsa problems with it now. And with sequels on the way, serious ones where I can't play the 'new vibe' card like I did with Flight Camp, that means more problems on the way, which will only compound upon each other.
Okay, small but important update:
Part 3 of the Bastion trilogy, and the final piece of Faux Pas' legacy, is as good as done, in first draft. I've gotten eight out of nine chapters done, the last one was written in one go yesterday. Yeah, turns out I can hit 3k words in one day if I use that little trick I mentioned earlier, it's weird. I kinda feel like my old self again in that respect, still working on the others.
Not much to report at the moment. My policy of disabling comments on new stories needs more entries and datapoints before it can be considered a useful experiment, so I'm reserving judgement on that note. Considering expanding it to all my stories, but I think at that point I'd be working on a scale where I have to publicly explain the thought process and personal reasons behind it, which I'm not quite ready for yet, I don't think.
Hey guys so recently Carmine Prophet posted a new story in his ROE universe and whilst the first chapter was good, in the description he did say it would no longer be trying to fit Marko Kloos’s Frontlines universe into his story or at least that’s how I interpret it.
This had me thinking about Bastion, nothing final yet but I am leaning towards rebooting the story to be more original however I wanted to know what you guys think.
Hey, everyone, Cracker here with yet another reason why the Bastion trilogy is taking so gosh darn long.
I've danced around the issues in previous blogs, and maybe done some previews earlier, but for those just arriving to this fecal festival: there's been a lot of problems with this story series. Like, a lot a lot.
So, Niko fic is mostly done, I have a rough first draft that's got the stuff in it I wanted, all except the ending and epilogue. It ended up being a little bit too telly and drama-y than I'd have wanted, but hey. It's a fanfic of a Christmas-based franchise, I won't publish it until December at least, I have time to finish up.

Well, it was predictable, and it's happened.
I've gone over what I had for the next Changeling Blood story, and I've decided I need to scrap the whole idea and re-think it at a concept level. Bit of a behind-the-curtains post, this.
Okay, y'all know the drill by now. Story got posted, kind of petered out and fizzled. In fact, all my recent stories have been duds compared to my older work. I haven't had a big hit since Rumble's Big Day trilogy, though admittedly that got three stories featured in a row. That was two years ago now.
I'm not sure what to make of that in terms of continuing on, but I'm continuing nonetheless. Which brings me to the topic at hoof: what next?
Had to do another re-do. Basically I hit the middle point of story two of the Bastion trilogy again and realised one of the characters (specifically Assault, see previous blogs) wasn't working. I'm hoping re-conceptualising it a third (fourth? Might be fifth by now) time will make it stick, and once that's done I can finalise what I have of part 3 and foreshadow it all in part 1, making a cohesive whole.
Quick heads-up for everyone waiting for the Bastion trilogy. So, you know, all five of you, pay attention, please.
Part 2 is still undergoing re-thinks and re-works, some issues at a concept level, so it's gonna take time to iron out. And again, given the level of foreshadowing that'll be prevalent throughout the trilogy, I can't publish part 1 if I don't know for absolute certain parts 2 and 3 are fine.
If you play Overwatch, you no doubt love playing as him, and hate fighting against him, but ladies and gentlemen; this Bastion animated short packs so much charm. Go ahead and watch this hippie Baymax fall in love with nature! (well, after having a PTSD moment that is...)
