Greetings Gotham, Joker here! Well, I've been doing some research into the original Naruto series, and I think I know where to deviate the timeline because of Ashi Uchiha's presence, thus allowing me more room to run: just after Sasuke gets his Curse Mark from Orochimaru, when Sakura's sitting there all helpless and crying. That's when Ashi shows up, with his hood concealing his face in shadow. He manages to convince Sakura to let him help as he "has a vested interest" in keeping Sasuke alive.
