The Coronavirus and "The Stand". · 10:14pm Feb 28th, 2020

The news coming out makes me think of "Captain Trips" and Stephen King's masterpiece "The Stand".

The opening to the tv adaptation from 1994 is the best opening to any tv movie or miniseries.

A Discourse on Writer's Block (or: Wherein the Author Hates his Stories with the Fire of A Thousand Suns) · 2:56am Sep 18th, 2016

I'm sure you've been there, too: You're writing something, and you keep spending time on it, and every time you stop and check your wordcount, it hasn't changed much. Or, you spend most of your time working on the story by not working on it, instead sitting there and brainstorming and/or cursing various aspects of the story and/or yourself for just not getting it bloody written.

Thoughts about It Chapter Two · 2:13pm Sep 7th, 2019

The second half totally lives up to its hype. The jumpscares, blood, gore, and various forms of Pennywise proves that Stephen King is one of the pioneers of writing horror stories. Despite the length of 2 hours and 49 minutes, it's good to know that it stayed faithful to the novel. If you watched the first one, I highly recommend checking this out. Heads up though, there are lots of flashing lights that might affect those with epileptic seizures.

Doctor Sleep Quick Review, and The Overlook Official Soundtrack · 11:55pm Nov 12th, 2019

I saw the movie, I also have Kubrick's classic The Shining, and the original novels The Shining and Doctor Sleep by Stephen King...

This movie while actually being a sequel to Kubrick's version of the story still has a very Stephen King-like story pace and structure. And I can appreciate the fact that the movie must have been made by someone that is a fan of both Kubrick's Movies and King's literature.

So, I kept hearing about the What About Discord? episode this past week. Mostly it was from various forums and the general consensus seemed to be that it was a middling to bad episode. So of course I had to watch it. I mean what sort of person who writes about random stuff would I be if I didn't watch it? It's a Discord episode also, I mean it couldn't be that bad right?

Let's Talk Long Stories · 3:27pm Sep 11th, 2019

So, every so often, I take a look at what's featured and popular on this site just to see where the trends currently are. I don't really read a lot of FiM based fic these days, since, as I've stated, I'm more interested in Equestria Girls. But I like to know what's going on story-wise around here and I've noticed something that kind of irritates me.

There are times you just know you're getting sick. Take for example this past week when I was sitting down and eating pizza at one of those make your own pizza places. I could feel it. The soreness in the throat and the occasional cough that was so subtle that it could be mistaken for me clearing my throat. I knew better though and things rapidly declined.

48 hours of mostly painkillers, Stephen King, and weird sleep patterns is something else · 7:46am Jul 27th, 2019

Surgery happened. I lived, bitch. Woo. I slept most of the those 48 hours afterward because holy fuck there was pretty much nothing else I could do. Also, The Shining is an absolute mess of a book. Don't touch it; it's not good, I promise. (I could spend like six hours saying why, but I won't; that's not the painkillers talking either.)
