Given how lackluster Season 6 was, I didn't have high hopes for Season 7. I got the impression that the writers were running out of ideas. Thankfully, my concerns were unfounded. Ah series 7, the one where they're not even being subtle about Rarity being a lot wilder by nature than what became self-satire somewhere around S2 and 3 lets on. Thanks for the fodder for my 'impulsive artist over everything' take on her and all but I'm starting to run out of room on my 'reasons to find Rarity relatable' list now I'm suspecting she applies her makeup listening to Bad Religion too. :p

Also curse you Rarity, 18 year old me wants a human version of your jacket so bad!

Yah, that's a rather low rating, and its not that its a bad episode, but its just an episode. Really, just look back at the season openers we've had, from starting the show to last season, and they were all (mostly?) true two parters, and powerful episodes.

I was just reminded that that's a thing.

Given that I'm still a full season behind and haven't even thought about pony in months... is it worth it to go see it; is it shaping up to be pretty good?

Just in general, I'm debating with myself if I want to try to get back into the show, or if I'd be better off just letting it go for good and not looking back.

It will be about the IDW comic character Shadow Lock, for those not in the know he was established a year to year and a half BEFORE S7, he is a descendant of Stygian AKA the Pony of Shadows. His clan has spent over a thousand years anticipating his return and has been working to prevent it and the mere existence of Stygian from being known.

Ever have those moments when you watch a show and a random line from a character makes you realize something and appreciate the scene itself in a new way? I had that when I watched the second episode of S7. Starlight is teaching Trixie magic and the great magnificent manages to turn an apple into a teacup. Trixie is adorably ecstatic about it and says that it is the first time she has ever managed to do real magic.
