The Deadliest Day of the Year is the Safest · 4:51am Oct 5th, 2017

From Sperling's Best Places:

Kids have a greater chance of being fatally injured by a car on Halloween than any other day of the year, including the Fourth of July and New Year’s Day. State Farm®, the nation’s leading auto insurer, teamed up with research expert, Bert Sperling of Sperling’s BestPlaces, to better understand the risk kids face as they take to the streets in search of treats.

Weather, Cutie Marks, and the Everfree Forest - in an Equestria with a Source of Magic · 8:34pm Aug 23rd, 2019

Previously, I have discussed one particular way of merging the idea of a "rational" universe, with Equestria's magic being present. There, I proposed the existence of a construct I have named the Source of Magic - an abstract construct big and powerful enough to be capable of performing feats considered "magical" while doing them only by the means available to everyone through the general laws of

Rationality 2: the Mustang and the Intrepid · 2:33am Dec 27th, 2017

Y'all remember last week when we talked about rationality and circuit checks? Well, now we're going to be putting that knowledge to use! :yay:

I didn't get really in depth in failure modes, because it depends on a lot of factors, and often times the manufacturer doesn't tell us in the aftermarket what those modes are. Sometimes we have to learn by experience. Luckily, other times the manufacturers are pretty good at it.

On the subject of magic in a rational universe · 7:18pm May 12th, 2019

So, I've been reading a lot, and this has been bugging me, quite a bit actually.

How could the concept of "magic" be explained in a universe that is rational? For example, our universe.

Note: for the rest of this posting, unless noted otherwise, the word "magic" will refer to the concept - and observed effects - of effecting control over matter and energy, as seen on the show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic".

A thing happened. · 7:49pm Apr 11th, 2016

I had a new experience today. I'm not sure if its good or bad, but I want to write it down, so here I am.

It was a weird thing. I felt angry at someone before I heard them say anything. No, more than that. I felt angry at someone who was trying to be nice. Angry is not usually a thing that I feel; especially under those circumstances. I need to explain two things before I can explain what made me angry and why.

Scene from the madhouse · 5:47pm Sep 6th, 2017

So, this morning, I awoke with a sudden and maniacal burst of inspiration. From that, I wrote one of those madhouse discussions that only comes out of Rationalist Fanfictions, in which Meta, while attempting to mount a planetary defense against extraplanar incursions, has an intellectual discussion with a representative of one of the most reviled nations on Equus...

I wrote a BlogPost about a rational progressive IncomeTaxSystem with Mincome. · 4:44am Apr 14th, 2016

I wrote a BlogPost about a rational progressive IncomeTaxSystem for my group the Skeptics' Guide to Equestia. I figure that my followers might be interested, so I repost it:

It is almost TaxDay in the USA (YYYYY-04-15). I present a rational TaxSystem for IncomeTax:

TaxOwed = ( Income / TaxRate ) - ( Constant + Deductions )

On one of these days, I should make a series called "Absurd Block Reasons the World Needs to See" · 12:37am Nov 18th, 2019

Yes, I did block you on purpose, and it's not just that you personally insulted me, or believe in different things.

I blocked you because you combine a firehosing of illogical opinions masquerading as facts with a deep and profound lack of respect for anyone who disagrees with you.

A Hearth’s Warming Understanding · 4:26pm May 15th, 2016

Well... season six, episode eight, A Hearth's Warming Tail, was a straight retelling of A Christmas Carol that, while pretty well executed (I love you, Luna), missed a HUGE opportunity to engage with the very real existence of people who are lonely or grieving over the holidays, have bad memories associated with Xmas, or otherwise have legitimate reasons not to join in with forced cheer.

At least, some places and groups haven't allowed the woke garbage to inflected every single little thing.

Anti-Woke school board candidates in Texas have won recently, I believe.
