The Difficulty of Third Person "Objective" · 10:14pm Mar 28th, 2016

At this point, I am mostly here to complain.
Those who have been reading my story "The Last Illusion" may know by now what I am talking about. The story is read out of a book. The book writes itself. But, "most" of the time, it is not a character. In fact, it seems literally incapable of treating itself as one.

The Last Jedi....MEH! · 12:59am Jan 18th, 2018

Okay earlier today I went to see The Last Jedi and while I didn't hate it....I didn't like it either. I just watched as too many questions entered my mind to really enjoy it. And there were enough good elements to make me not hate it. However the fact remains is that if you like it good and if ya hate it...well that's your choice man. I just didn't feel anything during the whole film. I suppose that makes it worse than the prequels in my book because at least I get a laugh out of the prequels

Alright... Criticism Take 2 · 6:12am Oct 4th, 2016

I was just about to give up in trying to explain why I didn't like Pony Point of View when a group member from another site put it into perfect words:

"This would have been a fantastic Season 1 or 2 episode."

That's it. Right there.

It feels like a bit more than a day late and a dollar short. The relationships of the mane six feel far beyond something as petty as this.

On the Fourth Wall · 1:09pm Sep 1st, 2017

When a character attempts to break the fourth wall, it may disturb a suspension of disbelief. A reader may not want to participate in the story as a character. Or the world in the reader’s mind is too different from the world in the writer's mind.

It may be especially disturbing if the author switches to the second person narration.

Source.

Of course, sometimes and for some genres it may work.

Breaking Rules About Narrative Point of View in Fiction and Non-fiction · 10:54pm Oct 2nd, 2016

Here’s a question for all you clever writers who have studied literature, read books on how to write fiction, and enjoy correcting the rest of us about points of style:

Can you change the narrative point of view in the middle of a story?

Friendship is Card Games: P.P.O.V. (Pony Point of View) · 12:17pm Oct 2nd, 2016

Part of the problem of doing a “live” text reaction is that I have to pause the video in order to type out my thoughts. Rewatching “Every Little Thing She Does” uninterrupted proved to be a lot less bad than I’d made it out to be. I’m still deeply uncomfortable with that episode and its implications, but the declaration of “worst episode ever” was almost certainly an exaggeration.

Pony Point of View, various thoughts · 4:23pm Oct 1st, 2016

This was another fun one. Mysteries, and deduction, and a bit of silliness. I don't have much to say for the moment, but it was definitely interesting.

Example: Sister Dances With Brother POV Ver. · 5:08am Dec 22nd, 2020

If anyone really needs the reasons why your sister is the way to go... all the way, naturally. And yes, it's natural, it's much more natural than some of you out there.

Just imagine Fluttershy's your sister.
You invite her to the dance because "you two have the same group of friends". At least, that's how you'll need to portray it in front of your parents.

She accepts because, you know, the two of you are, like, totally a thing... and exactly what it sounds like.
