Edgar Allen Poe - "The Masque of the Red Death" · 6:49pm Oct 28th, 2020

This story was always one of my favorites out of Poe. The description of the rooms stuck in my mind for years.

It's so nightmarishly timely now...

So, this time it really HAS been a while. What have I been up to? Well, my depression has been acting up quite a lot recently, not least of which because I and my family are preparing to move, and it has been being quite stressful. Things seem like they might be calming down a bit, now, and it looks like the move will be happening, potentially by the end of this month. Things will probably wind up getting QUITE hectic again, for a bit, just before and after, but hopefully once the move is

Everyone keeps shipping Poe and Finn... · 11:41pm Jul 12th, 2016

...and I'm just here like:

"They're 9 years apart, though." :rainbowderp:

I get age doesn't matter when it comes to love, and that's totally fine! Hell, in Harold and Maud, a 20-year-old guy fell for an 80-year-old woman. But that doesn't help the fact they're still 9 years apart, so...

...I should probably shut up now. :applejackunsure:

Art--for art's sake, autotelic, autonomous, and autopoietic · 3:05am Nov 29th, 2017

There are three confusing phrases used frequently in art theory that all seem to mean the same thing, but don't.  They have a long history of being rhetorically abused, because people are more certain that they all mean something good, than they are about what they mean.  Many people have tried to [win arguments without making them] by changing the meanings of these phrases.   Today they've been adapted to use as a shell game, so people can avoid being called out on their contradictory beliefs

Worldbuilding VII: Ponies vs. Advertising; Product Claims; Questionable Foal Names · 7:35pm Aug 30th, 2017

Just recently, I bought some frozen pizzas from Meijer.

It was a brand I'd never heard of, called Urban Pie Pizza Company.

I was attracted to them because there was a buy one, get one free tag next to them.

As it turned out, the tag was for the next pizzas over, but whatever. I was down for trying something new, so I bought two of them anyways.

Running full steam again. · 5:48am Jul 9th, 2015

Whenever I take time away from writing, I always forget that I do my best work when I skip around chapters and scenes like a little kid in a sweets shop trying to decide which candy to buy. And then I inevitably try to write things sequentially because it makes sense, and because I wrote an outline and everything, you know, and then I get stuck because I've forgotten to run around between scenes like a crazy person, which is really the only way I ever finish anything.

An editing partner and a new chapter. · 5:23pm Sep 1st, 2015

Wanted to mention a couple of important things today, but the most important to me is to say that the resourceful, educated, talented and illustrious Fana Farouche has joined me on Deathless, and is now working tirelessly with me behind the scenes to catch as many of my fumbles and correct as many of my bad decisions as is humanly, or even ponily, possible. I've really enjoyed working with Fana on whipping the story into shape so far, and

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Review · 3:31am Dec 28th, 2017

Out of all the science fiction stories I’ve experienced over the years, it’s obvious to say that Star Wars has had a massive impact on our entire culture, both for the casual and hardcore fans alike.

And why not?  It fundamentality both changed and challenged story making tropes by not only creating a vast expanded universe that is still going on nearly 40 years after it’s conception in 1977, to the major twist in Empire Strikes Back that is still being parodied today.

Broken image links and news and stuff · 11:43pm Feb 8th, 2016

While making story notes for future chapters (yeah, I'm still trying), I realized all of my image links are broken in my stories.

Oh no!

Luckily, I still have all of them backed up on 2 hard drives.

Oh yeah!

Curiously, I checked the links to see if some douche changed how the links worked, and the imgur image was still up on their site.

That's weird!

Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go add this beast to a couple of groups and then bite my nails a little. :rainbowderp: Just a little.

First milestone: Act 1 · 3:16pm Aug 17th, 2015

It's done. It's not edited, it's not sanity-checked, and it hasn't in any way been exposed to the outside world yet, but the first draft of Act 1 of Deathless is complete. 12 chapters and around 35k words, which positions it pretty much dead-center for a complete work weighing in at around novel-sized.

I hadn't actually planned on doing a novel's worth of horse words, but what the hell.

Global Politics is Magic is a group for stories that feature human reaction to ponies (and other creatures from MLP) on a mass scale. Though some stories about a select few ponies gaining intimate insight into human society at large could make it in. The terms are rather loosely defined right now (whoa, as I'm writimg this I saw a story get added. How cool is that? Someone joined! Squee! :D) so feel free to make

On the Weight of Ponies. · 8:47am Sep 9th, 2015

There's something in the fandom that's always weirded me out a little, and I'm going to give it a name. I'm going to call it Foam Pony Syndrome, and it's when you have humans in Equestria playing with Ponies by wildly whipping them about, tossing them up on their shoulders and generally behaving as though the Pony in question is either about as heavy as a sack of sugar or made entirely out of styrofoam. Mind you, the imagery is cute, but it rubs me wrong, because ponies that large should

You know what's weird? · 4:06pm Aug 20th, 2015

Adding words to Act Two, that's what's weird.

I've been so focused on just finishing Act One that I'd started to think of the rest of Deathless a bit like Atlantis: awesome, inspiring, golden-hued and, ultimately, fictitious. Which, of course, it is, being a story, but not in the meta-sense. The story itself is real, it's just not about reality. At least, not in the traditional sense.

I should probably get some coffee in my system before I really start confusing myself.
