First off, go see the movie; it's pretty swell. Anyway, I never was really sure what a cinematographer did for animation, now I know better. I think I'll have a greater appreciation for the design of the movie when I go to watch it a second time. A short excerpt:

I rented the movie on DVD this weekend and watched it for the second time ever. Since I saw it without any young ones to distract me, there are some parts that jumped out at me that I missed the first time, so I'd like to talk about them here.

As a cartoon connoisseur, I know when an animated movie is going to be so bad it threatens to melt faces like Raiders of the Lost Ark, but I saw a second of the intro and I thought, well, I need to watch this for the animation. I put the movie on mute and started watching, so here is the entire plot of the movie!

I really like it.

Granted, it wasn't perfect or amazing. But it was a solid movie, had some great stuff in it, and I definitely didn't almost start crying at that one part (you know the one if you've seen it). I give it a solid 8.5/10.

Go see it. Seriously, go see it in the theater.

One piece of advice I can give, though (and which isn't a spoiler) is to remember when this movie was written. I believe they first started work on it around the middle of season four, maybe even earlier.

Yesterday I watched the movie with my sister and my niece, who is all of two. My niece sat on my lap for most of the movie, mesmerized. She didn't seem scared at any point, but she did start to get bored about an hour into it, and turned around to look at me and play with my necklace.

It felt a little weird, Like I shouldn't of been there at all. But I don't care, I still wanted to go see this movie anyways. When I went into the theater there were actually cosplayers of twilight sparkle who were seeing the movie as well. Ehh, there was a few men in the theater room as well, so I didn't feel too out of place. Everyone seemed to go in groups, But I went by myself.

Definitively, a very pretty movie - as long as you don't look at the ponies' eyes; Voicework is great - I really liked Emily Blunt's; and the music is what one would expect; . Yet it somehow doesn't even seem like "MLP:FiM" to me - similar, but not the real deal. Most of the characters felt bland and flat. The story was so-so. I think it was even tamer than the show itself. Maybe they played it too safe.
Overall, Six out of Ten.

The whole thing seemed like a combination of rehashed episode plots, shoehorned celebrity cameos and excuses for the animators to show off what they could do in ToonBoom.

So I just saw My Little Pony: The Movie in theatres and overall, I really enjoyed it. A review for the film is in the works but in short, as a fan of the show I thought the movie was pretty good. So, I just saw the My Little Pony Movie recently. It's actually pretty good, all things considered.

Out of the Mane 6, Twilight, Pinkie, and Rainbow Dash get to do the most and shine the brightest. The other three, not so much... other than Rarity's little scene with Capper, Applejack's roping, and Fluttershy... had one scene with a random Storm Guard.
