Before we get into this, I wanna note that I did intend to review Deadpool and Wolverine, but I kept putting it off, and now it's probably too late. Let's just say I give that movie a 9/10 and move on.
(First, and briefly: LeClerc on pole, then the Red Bull boys? McLaren out of the basement? Niiiiice. Gonna be an excellent race tomorrow.)
Anyway, what is it with Netflix? They seem to be grabbing a lot of European WW2 movies and buying the rights to distribute them in the US.
Which is awesome. I love WW2 movies, and the European filmmakers don't head-up-ass as often as we do.
I've been meaning to watch this film for a long time now, but I've never really bothered to follow through on that desire. Lucky for me, I have a friend I tend to watch films with and I decided this should be one we watch today. Now, after having seen it, I can safely say one thing.
This is the most depressing film I've ever sat through.
My Spoiler-Free Review of Frozen II:
The Good:
•Fun
•Excellent characterization
•Olaf is surprisingly great
•Animation was of course gorgeous
•Decent songs, including
•Kristoff has a hilarious power ballad
The Bad:
•Jesus Christ, the plot was unfocused and the mythology was a Goddamn trainwreck
Overall Verdict:
See it once, don’t need to see it again, first one was better, hope they make an Olaf spinoff.
Warning: This blog includes intense language as well as a shit ton of laughing. Reader discretion is advised... Secondary Warning: Spoilers (Duh!)
Saw Suicide Squad last night. 7.5/10. Definitely better than Batman vs. Superman. Margo Robbie nailed the insanity, personality and badassery of Harley Quinn, whose character stole the show, and Will Smith's Deadshot wasn't far behind, as he played the role with proper nuance--an assassin for hire with a soft spot for his daughter.
Another one, huh? This time, it's a pretty short movie, which means a pretty short review, which also means an even shorter lead-in. Get the rest after the break!
Disclaimer: I couldn't afford to see it in theaters so I used my Amazon Fire TV Stick and Kodi app. My nieces were in the room with me and while they were "entertained", My thoughts are as follows:
Okay....WTF WAZ THAT PIECE OF 💩!?!?! I honestly would've watched YT the entire time, but my phone died and my tablet was charging w/my laptop......
Movie starts- "isn't this We Got the Beat by the Go-Go's" Oh wait it is but not and changed words like okay. That's fine.
Okay I just came back from seeing it today and my only coherent thought is still:
I've been meaning to write this one up for a good while now.
But last month I finally got to watch my first Kurosawa movie, all the way through.
And believe me, as a cinephile, that was a special experience.
This is the third Clint Eastwood movie that I've seen him in, and of them all this one is in many ways a very atypical role for him.
The Mule, based on a true story, is a crime drama that both stars Eastwood and is directed by him as well.
Barnyard (July 5th)
TMNT (July 7th)
Shark Tale (July 12th)
Chicken Little (July 14th)
PAW Patrol: The Movie [requested by Ocellus the Changeling] (July 19th)
Space Jam: A New Legacy [Re-Review] (July 21st)
Monsters vs Aliens (July 26th)
LEGO Batman the Movie: DC Superheroes Unite (July 28th)
So, in between updates on the latest story, I've decided to review another movie, or rather, another pair of movies, both because I have a lot I've wanted to say about these two movies in particular (this being the only real outlet I have for that) and because some of my readers actually seem to like this. To wit, my review of Now You See Me 1 and 2.
Well, it's been a while since I've done...well...anything on this site. Pony-fatigue is still running strong and my mind is catching up from several years of immersing myself in almost nothing but MLP (from a personal entertainment perspective). But now I'm back, fresh from the theater with a review of Shin Godzilla.
...
I'm sure I'll get back to pony eventually...
Warning! Spoilers Ahead!
Well, I'm sure by now many of you have either seen the leaked English version from the Brazilian broadcast a week ago, or the official Netflix release that came out yesterday. For those of who you still haven't because you're waiting on the DVD release (there's no word on when or if it'll get a television broadcast):
