So, it's that time again. Make Your Mark chapter 4 is out and I've managed to snort the episodes. I've been extremely critical of previous chapters and while after some rewatching and thought my opinion of them improved a bit, they're still sub-par at best.
So, this was pretty much the definition of "okay".
The new cast is definitely still learning their roles. Hope things become better as time goes on. This special was certainly Zipp's moment. Izzy in the movie was the perfect blend of serious and funny, but here she veers just a little too close to Pinkie Pie. Hitch was just... Off, somehow.
Animation budget definitely took a hit. There was like... About ten ponies attending the concert.
And here we are, the finale of G5 plus the Secrets of Starlight special.
Rabbits grew horns, but they're still just as defenseless as ever.
Breaking news, Pipp grew a third eye.
I hate it when the stream starts, but it's just another countdown until the stream.
A pony looks for a charger as if that could do her any good in the middle of the street. And why would a charger be in the middle of the street?
Pipp breaks everything because taxpayers pay for it all anyway.

In the name of rest and recovery, I made some time in lieu of exercise and watched Make Your Mark yesterday. So, just like with G5 movie, here goes my incredibly irrelevant opinion on it:
NON-SPOILERS:
1) Overall: It's kinda what the movie should have been - a two-parter opening series episode. It sets up future problems reasonably well (aside from the potential "villain", but about that later), and in terms of direct plot I think it's actually quite a lot better than the movie.
Hitch is the most scared of them all.
They're all there and none of them knows why they are there.
"Behold!" Points to nothing.
Izzy demonstrates Earth pony magic.
Nature is beautiful. Let's destroy it with overpopulation!
Golum loves precious singing ponies.
Drogols?
Nopony believes in jinxies.
Rubby Jubelie?
Dreamlands? G1?

So I pretty much snorted all 8 episodes now on Netflix, and I'm genuinely... annoyed.

The first episode of Make Your Mark Chapter 2 is on YouTube (and all eight are on Netflix).
I'm three episodes in. So far, the writing is a decidedly marked improvement from the special, but not quite reaches the quality levels of the movie. Animation as well. Looking forward to more, but not sure I'll get through all eight tonight.
Theme song is decent too.
Make Your Mark is far from perfect, but I love love love love love the fact that THE PRETTY ONE™️ gets all of the zaniest faces, and the vast majority of the show's slapstick.
I'm rewatching Chapter 4 of Make Your Mark in anticipation of Chapter 5 coming out in only a week and a half.

I watched the episode and... meh.
It feels like the writers of G5 were just staring at the wall, agreeing that they have a creative block. All they had to work with was a toy of a cart that Hasbro would sell DLCs for.
Then they all agreed that since they have nothing noteworthy to write, they'll just make ponies their mouthpieces and talk about their lack of ideas.
