For those of you who play Kerbal Space Program and saw Monday's stream, this is the single-seater plane that killed two kerbals in about three minutes and never got farther than the end of the KSP runway. It was that bad.

This one needs a little more explanation.

I'm not sure this one even flies much short of supersonic. I do know that at 300 m/s or higher the thing is nearly unsteerable- probably due to the canards I put on the nose to move the center of lift forward a bit. I'm pretty sure those were a bad idea, at least without control surfaces.

But that's not what killed a kerbal.

I got Kerbal Space Program today.

Now I'm no rocket scientist, but I'm aware of the basic rules and mechanics of space flight and aeronautics. Lift surfaces on the centre of mass, slingshotting off planets, Delta V, aerodynamics, that sort of thing. It would help if I did the tutorial, now I'm stuck because I don't know all the hotkeys. I got throttle up, zoom and camera rotate as well as the aerofoil control keys and that's about it.

There's a long road ahead...

I started a long burn on ion engines in KSP an hour ago.

It's about 1/8 complete.

This is what happens when you're going low-end interstellar with a 270-ton craft powered by twelve ion engines.

So, I've had a frustrating and mostly futile afternoon...

Specifically, tomorrow evening (Monday 9-9), beginning 7 PM, at which point I believe I will fly a CSP mission which will get at most a paragraph in the next chapter, just to finish the temperature scans that didn't happen in Mission 22. That will run from building a rocket from scratch to as many "simulated" launches as necessary (read: revert to VAB if the design proves bad) to landing a rocket-rover on Minmus.

Several of you have pointed my attention to the trailer for Kerbal Space Program 2. It was the final straw, so to speak, in getting me to buy a gaming-optimized laptop- the cheapest I could get, mind you, but it still set me back over seven hundred bucks.

And I just now tested out streaming with it... and, well, it's grainy, since 1 MB outbound is all the bandwidth I'll ever have, but the framerate is actually decent.

Considering the file I uploaded was in 1280 X 720, this turned out pretty grainy- only a bit better than the 538-wide screen I stream out live.

And, yes, the recording glitched a lot. This was the best I could do. I've fixed settings since to improve things.
