Early this morning, shortly after eating and receiving his insulin shot along with some newly-prescribed heart medication, my dog, Cody, passed away in my arms from what appears to have been a heart attack. I was able to revive him for a final few seconds with CPR, and felt him give his last breaths before going still.

The vet told us that he still had almost a year to live once the medicine started taking effect. But I guess we were either too late, or his body decided to give out anyway.

One of my older brothers died last night. His health hadn't been the greatest, but he wasn't super fragile either. His death is a complete shock to everyone.

Writing anything is obviously on hold for now, but I wanted you all to know why.

I am functional, I'm dealing with things as best I can. The emotional part hasn't really sunk in yet. I do have supports. All I'm really asking for is understanding about delays in stories and perhaps some sympathy.

On February 1^st, 2016, at around 11:00 AM, my Pa gets a phone call from the hospital. It sounds urgent and, as soon as the call is over, Pa tell us to get changed and we have to leave now. I barely have time to grab a snack before Pa throws us all in the car. On the way to the hospital, Ma asks him what’s wrong. Pa takes in a deep breath and says the next words as calm as he can.
