Putting Descartes Before the Horse · 11:44pm Jul 20th, 2015

It's been a crazy week of travelling for me. Last weekend I was camping in a field in Wales at a wedding party, which was great fun, even though it rained all night and my tent leaked. I then went out to Seattle for a week of particle physics stuff, also fun, getting home late last night after an exhausting overnight flight via Chicago. Problem with flying long-haul at this time of year—the only affordable options involve long and awkward stopovers.

Amending Fences- how sweet the sound · 10:00pm Jul 12th, 2015

What does the truth and electricity have in common?
Twilight has a twin sister?
Haycartes was inspired by a 17th century French Scientist/Philosopher?
And much more analysis and commentary of this cool episode.
Enjoy!

Haycartes moves forward. · 4:11am Apr 29th, 2019

Just sat down and wrote 3,400 words in three hours. Words flowed freely (mostly).

Unfortunately, I'm at least a thousand more words from end of chapter, so no post tonight. Definitely post tomorrow, though.

On the April gamestreaming schedule, Viewer Challenges, and stuff. · 5:15pm Mar 30th, 2020

OK, based on Patreon votes, the schedule for my April game streaming is as follows:

TONIGHT - KSP: Rescue From Eeloo (Remember that one-shot flight to Eeloo? Tonight I'm gonna go back to that gamesave and see if Jeb, Bill and Bob can get home on less than 1200 m/s of delta-V, or if a rescue ship can reach them.

AFTER TONIGHT:

MONDAY - KSP: VIEWER BUILD CHALLENGES
April 6 - KSC ROVER RALLY (details to come in separate blog post)

Stupid sinus infection... and the New Project Revealed · 4:25am Feb 4th, 2019

I'm still a day's work away from releasing the next CSP chapter. Sinus headaches have wrecked my concentration.

But I've decided to explain my next project.

There were three core points to my thought process:

(1) Not a CSP/Maretian sequel (though large Ko-Fi or PayPal donations might persuade me to do that "return to the cave farm" bit you all keep asking for- the car repairs put me heavily in debt, and I'm missing my second most profitable convention this year)

Tuesday will be Changeling Space Program Day. This I decree. · 7:25pm Apr 8th, 2019

... well, technically not me.

Someone actually plumped for the top tier of my Patreon, partly to get a particular cameo in CSP, but mostly to get CSP moving again.

So, Haycartes' Pluperfect Method will skip at least one day per week. Tuesdays, at least for the time being, will be set aside for work on CSP. Those of you who are Patreon supporters will see a post tomorrow with a link to Tuesday livewriting on Google Docs.

Everything Little Thing She Does is of Her Own Free Will (or is it?) · 9:41pm Sep 25th, 2016

I spent this week on a residential course on Popular Science Writing, which has left me bubbling with enthusiasm for putting together my own book proposal. I cycled into town this morning to visit the science section of my local bookstore and get some reference material. While there, I also decided to stop off at my college just to see if I had any mail—only to find the entire street had been closed off and was swarming with security trying to hold back a dense crowd, holding their phones high
