WARNING!!! The following contains SPOILERS for the latest MLP episode “Hard to Say Anything”
My friends from Baltimore drove in yesterday, so I didn't get to watch the episode and may be rather incommunicado all week. :B
Synopsis
When the Cutie Mark Crusaders discover that Big Mac has his first crush, they vow to help him win Sugar Belle’s heart before Feather Bangs does it first.
Aka, "Ship Sinking"
I gotta say, some of the ponies in these episodes need to be a little more straight forward without being mean about it, but sometimes you can be too direct, you know? Let me go into detail.
Parental Glideance-
Let's say there's a pony on the show you want to murder.
Gruesomely.
With a baseball bat with rusty nails in it.
And a machine gun.
Warning: Spoilers for new episodes. Also, I decided to put two reviews for this one since I didn't have a whole lot to say about these episodes.
Hard to Say Anything
Time to catch up on two weeks' worth of episode rewatches! Which, in a better world, would mean two episodes. :| Blame Canada.
So we're firmly in the character interaction, it seems. Unfortunately, that means not a whole lot of lore comes out of this that I can see. Have a special one then!
New characters and old characters are brought into the spotlight, at least, and that's fun.
I'm just gonna' say it.
I was as disappointed as you all are when I found out that Cheerimac's being put on ice canon-wise.
But it's just a crush. They're not married, they haven't had kids. At the end of it, they just said they liked one another. It could break off at any point, might make a fairly pivotal Aesop 'No reason why we can't still be friends' sort of thing.
Wherein a shy, well-built stallion tries to get the girl with the dubious help of three friends.
… Wait, haven’t we done this before?
Hard to Say Anything
-Well, well, Big Mac's got a Legit Crush, looks like this may stir up Shipping rivalries for those who ship him with Cheerilee (I don't ship Big Mac with anyone)
-Wow, the Crusaders are actually REFLECTING upon a previous lesson learned, only to mess it all up again because LIFE ISN'T LIKE A FAIRY-TALE, or a TV SHOW either. It's all scripted to happen that way. In real life ANYTHING can happen.
Grading Scale:
A (fantastic episode)
A- (an excellent episode with at least one flaw)
B+ (a great episode with a couple of flaws)
B (a good episode which still could have been better)
The CMC help Big Mac win over the heart of a mare. What could possibly go wrong?!
Okay, here we go, episodes 7-3 through 7-9. Spoilers below, let's go:
7-3, Flurry of Emotions:
Flurry's pretty cute in this episode.
