Genetics (Real Talk) · 3:31am Dec 11th, 2018
Skip to 10:33 for this blog's topic.
We have three primary phenotypes (earth pony, pegasus, unicorn). All are interfertile and produce fertile offspring (vide. the Cake family), and the children of parents both of a single phenotype can be of one of the other phenotypes. No intermediate forms are noted (but see below).
Twilight was once again doing some research on Shepherd, and analyzing the data from her sensors attached to him. Shepherd was working very hard on staying patient.
Shepherd: sigh "... Twilight-"
Twilight: "Not yet... I'm not finished..."
Shepherd: "I am."
Twilight: "Not yet!"
Shepherd: "I'm going to pull off the sensors-"
Twilight: "Just a second! And... Done!"
She beams at him.
Shepherd: "Okay... And your conclusion is...?"
It's time we had a science lesson from Applejack...
“So in this field we have McIntosh, Golden Russet, Redstreak, Macoun and Ashmead's Kernel. Then down in the south orchard we keep Granny Smith, Westfield Seek-No-Further, Flower of Kent, Tremlett's Bitter...”
Shakespearicles recently did a blog post called Pony Genetics. I posted the gene chart I created around 4 years ago to use in my brainstorming there, but the post got me thinking and I decided to revisit the subject. As a result I came up with a new genetics chart/headcanon to use going forward and figured I'd share. (This chart does not include Zebra or
Pony genetics is a subject which has (arguably) been over-analysed to death following Mr Cake’s explanation in season 2 episode 13:
However this is maybe worth revisiting following the new development in season 6: the first natural-born alicorn in Equestria.
Alicorns, as a rule, aren't born. Princess Twilight was born Twilight Sparkle the Unicorn. Princess Mi Amore Cadenza was born Cadance the Pegasus. The Royal Sisters... well, Celestia's being cryptic and Luna's keeping mum. But they agree that this has never happened before, so let's take it as a given that neither of them was a born Alicorn either. So where does Princess Flurry Heart fit in?
I've created the GoFundMe page. I'll be posting pictures this weekend of the results of my latest experiments, which were astoundingly clear demonstrations my hypothesis is correct.
EDIT: The correct page link: https://www.gofundme.com/choanal-atresia-genetic-model
I've also added microscopy images of the mutants.
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR A 'ROYAL PROBLEM' BELOW. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE EPISODE.
Now that that's out of the way, thinking about the episode I noticed something interesting. Celestias 'evil form of Daybreaker had a very similar style to something else we've seen in the series. Does anybody else remember what?
One more clue. Extreme frustration brought about an extreme physical change.

Hello everypony,
2022/02/19: I changed some of the details within the story, so I've adjusted this post accordingly.
Since I bothered to make this little info-sheet, I decided to share it with everypony. In case you are severely autistic, I'm going to leave this reminder:
Maybe when... uh... if...
If there's the possiblity that your sister might end up, uh, pregnant... her fault, really.
Well, maybe make sure that she's not in one of her pony phases.
Because... uh.
Human + Pony = Well...
Sis:
Bro: Don't look at me like that.
I love that humanized Izzy. So cute!
What I'm scared most of is one thing that I've noticed very likely runs in the family, and that, on my end at least, is a bad thing to look forward to. Starting with my grandad, then following on to my dad, who then moves on to me, it's like a chain event.
