Yet Still More Flash Fiction · 4:18pm Dec 5th, 2015

Something too short to be made into a story, too long to just throw away, and too... whatever it is to adapt into something else.

So, I thought I'd bring back a flash fiction segment one more time.

Flash Fiction: Probably · 10:09am Jul 14th, 2016

Current iteration of story attributed to Chuck Finley for the execution and conversations with Ariamaki for the inspiration.

Written in two and a bit days, just to prove that if I have an idea I like, I can finish it before Chuck steals it like he threatened.

January 2018 Flashfic Signal Boost · 9:56pm Jan 21st, 2018

This month's event ends in just a few hours, but stories are limited to 150 words, so that's plenty of time! Whip up something and contribute for the fun of it! This month's prompt as selected by Impossible Numbers, last month's winner, is "Laughter, Old and New." You can find the thread here. C'mon, it's fun! Winners are completely chosen on a whim by Loganberry, so it

Another Flashfic signal boost · 1:38pm Aug 21st, 2017

The Flashfic 150 August event ends today, but you still have most of the day to enter. It's only 150 words maximum, so that's plenty of time. This month's prompt, chosen by last month's winner (xjuggernaughtx), is "the boiling point." Check it out here, and be sure to read all the rules so you don't get disqualified or overlooked.

To: A Dear Friend -- From: A Silly Bugger · 2:21pm Oct 15th, 2016

"You know, this is my spot to do that."

Golden Retriever jumped, right near out of her skin, from where she had been standing looking out the crystal walls of Twilight's Castle in thought.

"I'm sorry, Dr Princess. I was just--" She blinked. Her brain just caught up past the interruption to what was actually said. "--your spot to do what?"

Shoutout to my Patrons, whose contributions ensure I remember to actually post the stuff I write.

So I'm a university student again, a more legitimate one this time around. Doing a writing minor, since apparently screenwriting credits don't transfer... anyway.

WWBP: Flashfiction - Superposition · 11:19pm Aug 2nd, 2017

She thought he was asleep when she confessed. She whispered that she loved him, head sinking into his chest.

He hadn’t been asleep. Now he lay staring up at the ceiling.

He wanted to whisper back that he loved her, too, but it would be too cruel a lie to tell. He wanted to love her, but he couldn’t.

I've been slack, have some fic · 12:34am Apr 11th, 2016

So I started writing a thing, and I talked to the bisexual monstrosity who cannot be contained some guy named Chuck about it, and he suggested I make it an anthology.

And then some really cool people started showing interest in the idea, and it seemed like a thing that I could actually do.

The premise after the break.

Writing Advice: Flash Fiction (and no, I don't mean stories about Flash Sentry, though I suppose they could be...) · 1:52am Sep 12th, 2018

So I have this kind of tradition where if I presented any significant amount of material at a BronyCon panel, I write it up as a blog post later on. In past years, it’d first go up as a guest column on Chris’s blog, but that is no more. Then I’d make a blog post here out of it, and when the panel videos eventually went up on YouTube, I’d link them in

For those fans of writing very short stories, check out Loganberry's Flashfic group and the monthly event. Entries for May are due in about 2 days, but that's plenty of time to write 150 words. They're great exercises in economy of words and keeping focused on what's truly essential to the story, the same reason I used to like the write-off association's minific rounds.

Are you capable of writing a flashfiction? · 9:54am Mar 1st, 2021

If you are, you should try your quill in this writing competition:
https://www.fimfiction.net/group/212112/flashfic/thread/463261/flashfic-150-march-2021-accelerated-evolution

All you have to write is less than 150 words. You can do that, can't you?

This competition is special to me because it's about evolving.

You only have 60 hours left to write 150 words! · 8:31am Mar 19th, 2021

Will you make it on time, I wonder?

Yes, it only takes you 10 minutes to write a flashfic, so 60 remaining hours should be plenty of time. But then again, you had the whole month since my announcement and you produced nothing!

Go on. Pencil in your mouth and crack up a flashfic!

So three weeks ago I set up a prompt contest, and I wanted to talk about that, because the entries were good and the comments hit the nail on the head, I think, for what I was talking about with prompts. Those comments and talking about prompts again will be in a followup blog post, after this one. Right now? I want to show off the entries I got, because they're pretty great and fantastic and deserve a little love.
