Read It Now Reviews #98 – Suited for Terror, Boo! Haunted House!, Morsel of Truth, Family Matters, Unnoticed · 10:38pm Nov 2nd, 2016

Halloween (or should I say, Nightmare Night) has come and gone, but it left us with a trio of stories which lingered in the featured story box – Suited for Terror, Boo! Haunted House!, and Morsel of Truth. In the spirit of the holidays, I thought I’d read all three, and polish off two more recent stories that caught my eye.

Today’s stories:

Suited for Terror by Estee
Boo! Haunted House! by shortskirtsandexplosions
Morsel of Truth by Pen Stroke

Read It Later Reviews #29 – Every Mare Needs Her Stallion, Not a Princess, Let’s Find You a Date!, Felt Heart, Discord Applies for Citizenship Papers · 12:44am Sep 4th, 2015

This could also be called “four shipfics and a random story”. In my Rarity shipping kick, I read the rather strange Every Mare Needs Her Stallion as well as three RariLight pieces. Then, just to round things off, I read one of the highest rated stories on FIMFiction, Discord Applies for Citizenship Papers, which happens to also be extremely short.

How did they all stack up?

Read on.

Hello folks! Writing from my location in the dungeon of a rental, I have been very remiss in my reading and writing. But for now, remodeling is in the hands of a contractor, so it is time to do some catchup – and not the kind that you put on fries.

Today’s stories:

A Series of Egotistical Events by Estee

So...I've Been Looking Up The New Mulan 'Remake' · 3:16pm Sep 9th, 2020

I'm not sure I can really consider it a 'remake'. It's really more just a different adaptation. It is tied to the original Mulan Disney made and I have talked about them banking their new projects on the hype of the old ones but, honestly...I'm happy they're trying something new.
Is it any good?

Read It Later Reviews #36 – Present Tense, Apple Whine, Pinkie Pie vs the Soufflé, Height, It is Upon These Words That the Fate of Equestria Hangs · 12:29am Nov 18th, 2015

Well, trying to be a busy little beaver dragon this week and spend my free time doing productive things instead of browsing the Internet and wasting time procrastinating. It is invigorating to throw myself into things, and I wonder just what it is that keeps trying to pull me back into the petty and frivolous when I could be doing far more enjoyable things.

Is it base human nature?

Is it fear of actually trying?

Is it just the ease of consuming the easily digested?

Ah, well.

Read It Later Reviews #82 – Lost Time, From One Unicorn to Another, Lessons in Generosity, Study of Generosity, Spa and Order · 9:01pm Oct 30th, 2017

À la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time) is a classic of French literature.

A few nights ago, I finally found it. Lost Time, that is.

I got the rest of the set done on Saturday… and then my laptop had major problems on Sunday which are as yet not fully resolved, but at least I got it working again. This wouldn’t ordinarily be a problem… except for the fact that my house is being remodeled and, at the moment, is full of nasty fumes. Good old VOCs.

Story Notes: Ponies vs. Pizza · 2:34am Jun 20th, 2022

Wow, this is at least the second one-shot I’ve written involving ponies eating pizza. What were the odds of that?

For better or worse, not pre-read by anybody. Just like a Little Caesar’s Hot and Ready doesn’t get any inspection before it goes out the door . . . helps keep the price low, y’know?

Hello Gamers: a brief, important message (for everyone, not just gamers) · 1:10am Mar 11th, 2022

Hi, it's been a while. I'm really sorry about that, I'll try and do a personal update soon. I've been busy and unwell lately, but I would at least like to give a delayed answer to the following: yes, I got my computer fixed a while ago, near the end of January. I also ended up with another laptop. However, I'd like to make a time-sensitive blog about something important.

A common symptom of being on FIMFiction for a while is an ever-growing read later list, composed of a bunch of stories which looked interesting enough to mark “read later”, but which you were too lazy to read at that point in time, either because it wasn’t really that interesting, because you were pressed for time, or because it was simply fairly long and would require some actual commitment.

My Read It Later list is up to 1517 stories at the time of writing.

A Decade · 2:57pm Sep 2nd, 2023

Today marks one full decade since I first joined this site. I really just cannot express how grateful I am to have discovered it (all thanks to falling down a google rabbit-hole and discovering a fic that damn near changed my entire view on life:heart:) I just can't believe its been ten years though. It feels like yesterday, but also a lifetime ago, like I've always known what it felt like to log into fimfiction and open up a good story.

Read It Now Reviews #115 – Free to Study, Making Up is Hard to Do, In Everything but Name, Memorial, One Last Snap · 3:01am Oct 16th, 2019

I was going to write a blog post about the finale, but having gotten about halfway through it, I’m not really sure what it was going to add to the discussion – to a great extent, it felt like a rehash of the episode, rather than adding anything of value.

But I do have things I want to say about it, so I will have to reformulate my thoughts.

In the meanwhile, I actually started reading stories again. And, well, as long as I was reminiscing… what about another review set?
