New Year’s Eve. When better to do an annual? Though Free Comic Book Day would also be suitable with this one, but I don’t have nearly enough comics in reserve to delay it that long. So, let’s look at what the Power Ponies are like when they aren’t the Mane Six.
I know I said I wouldn’t review these episodes until they aired in the States, but that was before I learned that Discovery Family plans on reopening the season with another double feature on the fifth. I really don’t like doing multiple episodes per blog. Doing so dilutes the attention either gets and keeps me from exploring their deeper design potential. For those of you still gamely avoiding spoilers (and best of luck to you,) I’ll say no more here and link back to this blog next week.

The alarm went off again at 7:15… and again I didn’t drag myself out of bed until 7:30. But, I had to make it in time to get my seat with the Jurists for breakfast at Dave’s! But this time, we got a bonus! I ran into BlazzingInfero and Epic Yarn on their way down to breakfast and invited them along! Silver Flare joined us before too long as well, which was fun. They guy’s hysterical, even if he needs to learn to be social in a Discord server.
...I finally slept past 7:15.

Still couldn’t wake up, even with a Venti London Fog. I almost got another! A lot of people got a late start, but I remember hanging out with Corejo, RedSquirrel (I think), Furled Scroll, but that was after saying goodbye to Hap!

We may be in an intraseasonal hiatus, but there’s still a week’s worth of animation for me to review before going back to the comics. The Equestria Girls shorts never stopped being a thing. Indeed, they’ve been a thing for long enough that even Hasbro’s sluggish YouTube release schedule has almost caught up to this article. Let’s get started.
After the Dominaria prerelease, it feels appropriate to have an episode focused on people returning home after a long absence. Of course, not everyone has that same sense of history and nostalgia. Let’s see how this pans out, and hope there’s nothing that anyone can peg on Belzenlok, King of Storms, Spirit of Chaos, Enslaver of the North, etc.
So, as I've been watching the various new EG shorts on both YouTube and the Discovery Family Go app, I've discovered something in the dialogue here and there which has convinced me of something: We're not seeing this series in chronological order.

Several tiles of our house just came off in the wind! Serious damage has been dealt to our extension roof and a glass window has been smashed to hell. Photo below taken from my bedroom window.
One of the slab tiles nearly killed my mom and her puppy chihuahua! Went downstairs and found her shaking to hell, the poor soul. Look at that gaping hole in the plastic roof! Those tiles are not light, people - let that give you an idea how strong the winds are lately around my place!
Be advised, there may be a new episode coming this Friday at 2 PM. It’s clear that Discovery Family’s “Summer Surprises” is code for “lol what’s regular, predictable scheduling.” On a similar note, today’s comic took me off-guard during my scheduling.
Just telling you guys what's been going on. So college is okay. The work isn't too overwhelming so that is good. I'm working (job wise) as hard as I can. In fact, I'm actually writing this during my shift. See, I was hoping I wouldn't be working today and see the Friendship Games, but unfortunately they needed me to work today because there is a HUGE group of people coming in to see the Pope. We interrupt my Zeno-Achillean efforts to catch up to IDW’s tortoise to take a look at some of the Equestria Girls shorts that have gone up recently. I held back on these because I like being able to provide links to the source material for those who haven’t seen them, and Hasbro has been slow-rolling the YouTube releases to get more people on the Discovery GO app. Thank goodness for Dailymotion.
Hello, all. I'm deviating from the main series this week to at least start the other comic lines; the first issues of both the single-character-focused micro-series and the two-character-focused Friends Forever line. Let's see where this takes us.
