It’s with prereaders and has topped 11k words. I’m just waiting to receive everyone’s feedback, including the commissioner before I release it. Best guess for that is Tuesday or Wednesday night. In a late addition to the story, I decided to conclude it with one final, brief section at the very end to potentially set up a sequel or side story. Suffice it to say for now, it would appear that certain beings have a natural immunity to Sunset’s memory erasure spells.
To make a long story short, we once again have an endlessly expanding chapter that’s already several thousand words bigger than I thought it would be. It’s now over 17k words, which means we’re reaching the territory where I have to consider breaking it up again. Regardless, I plan to finish it this weekend. I’m back to work on Monday but off on Tuesday for Independence Day, though I don’t know how much work will actually be done by anyone when you’re talking one working day between the weekend
As promised on a blog in early December, I’m coming back to Midnight Rising with the intention of rewriting the poorly done ending to the Molly/Vesuvius duel to something far more fitting and appropriate. And once that’s done? I’m proceeding directly into the next chapter with the intention of putting the story back on track, finally focusing on Lemon Zest.
Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.
Folks, I really have to apologize for my lack of new content and being out of contact over Skype. I have just not been a happy camper these past few weeks, and I'm simply not finding the energy to write or be social with. So what's going on? Work, primarily. For various reasons I've really had to knuckle down over the past month and it has taken a lot out of me. By the time I work, exercise and do dinner I am usually quite moody and just in no mood to do anything except veg out in front of my
... and will likely be finished within the next few days as It’s coming pretty quickly. Will be aiming for a midweek release. As promised, this chapter will not be clop, but rather, one last round of worldbuilding before the grand finale to follow, much of it taking place over a chess match between Edgeworth and Celestia. Among other things, you’ll learn some very interesting facts about Celly and her role in on Earth over the centuries, such as:
Or a slightly belated Happy Holidays if you prefer. Currently writing this from my parents' place, where I typically spend Christmas. Heading home tomorrow after four days here, but before I go to sleep tonight so I can head out tomorrow--five hour drive home--I figured I'd give folks an Xmas update on things.
As work proceeds on Firefly book 2, I am also working towards a new TLaTU chapter release. Part 33 currently stands at just north of 6000 words, and I have an eye on publishing it this weekend, most likely Sunday. What kind of chapter will it be? A mixture of sexytimes and summer fun involving the Fairgrounds, a Ferris Wheel, and some evening music. I have one last surprise to spring that will be hinted at here, but you'll have to wait one more chapter to get it. Expect this chapter to be
All prereads are in. Will publish chapter 32 tonight or tomorrow morning. Just need to write the author’s notes and get some musical selections added. As promised, the focus comes back to our favorite couple, and like all ending chapters will be quite adult.
As a bonus, expect cameos by a couple of notable Ace Attorney characters not yet seen. Aside from that, heavy TwiWright action ahead!!!! I cut loose on this chapter, so be afraid, folks...
With the help of my writing and reviewing crew, making solid progress on the start of Into the Storm: The Flight of Firefly over the past week. To this point, I’ve got the cover art selected and story description written, with the prologue, first two chapters and one bonus chapter containing the Gryphon war declaration completed and ready for launch. Remaining to do before publishing:
Hey folks. Just wanted to let everyone know where things stand with our favorite mare and the future of the Five Star series.
Have everypony screw everypony else Well, yes, that, but the manner in which it's delivered is the question right now. I know from experience that serious clop chapters shouldn't *usually* be overlong or overstuffed with too many scenes; it's preferable to just focus on one or two scenes at a time. Yes, there are exceptions I make to this, as anybody who's read the ending of The Lawyer and The Unicorn can probably attest, as I like to end such stories with the sexual equivalent of
It's coming in at just under 7000 words and will launch as soon as all prereads are in--I'm only waiting on one more. Aside from continuing to build the story to its (hopefully) Halloween climax, expect the new chapter to do at least one thing I've been wanting to generally for a while and plug a major plot hole in the MLP movie. Which hole? You'll find out in the course of reading it and the author's notes.
I still need to do the graphics, find some suitable music, and do my customary two editing passes by listening to the chapter recited back to me using the site's narration function, of which I find the mobile version far more quick and tolerable. We will aim for a Saturday or Sunday release, and for those curious, the chapter has reached upwards of 11,000 words.
Along with new cover art. This includes one brand-new chapter--a second prologue. Basically, the first prologue chapter shows Phoenix's perspective of Twilight's arrival, while the new second one shows Twilight's:

The next Firefly chapter is well on the way, but even at 8300 words written is not coming quickly. The last three chapters, I found, pretty much wrote themselves as I was doing scenes I'd envisioned for a while. This time? I'm trying to thread a very difficult plot needle and so far I haven't succeeded, either according to myself or the one prereader who has looked at it. Without giving away the game, this has turned into a Fell Flight-centric chapter that's trying to set something up;
I’m home as of Sunday morning but still jetlagged after ten full days over there. I regret I didn’t get rich at the poker tables <wistful sigh>, but I had a blast anyway. Enough so, in fact, that I’m going to make you guys suffer through some pics. Yes, you will finally get to know what your author actually looks like... when I get my online album finished, that is.
Apologies for not checking in earlier as I promised. To make a long story short, the surgery happened on time and went off without a hitch; I was sent home a few hours later with a stack of gauze and medical tape to catch the seemingly endless drainage. It also hurt, but it turned out I didn’t need more than a couple pills of hydrocodone when all was said and done.
The new chapter is at 15.2k words and still not done, with it very likely to be broken up again. I see a natural breakpoint developing after all the memory replays are shown, and once again, it would seem best to let them—and the alternate perspective of events/major and minor revelations they show—have the spotlight instead of extending the chapter to include a major trailing M-rated scene. So it will end on the doorstep of it as our favorite Tribune finally manages to fatally offend
