Remember how I talked about making a tropes page for Dark Horse? Well, I've gotten my thumbs out about that, and thought I'd at least try.

Still rather bare-bones, but not bad for a first try if I do say so myself. Feel free to add anything you can think of, be it feedback here or edits over on the page.

So close to done I can taste it, but not quite yet.

17383 words. Shouldn't be more than a few hundred more, but I need to tweak a few things before I send this out to the editors. Think I dare say that should happen sometime during the weekend, with the chapter proper dropping sometime next week.

As such, last call if anybody wants to volunteer for editing that hasn't already. At least for #8.

I don't want to offer false hope (again, *cough*) but I think I'm a day or so from wrapping up #8.

I'm quite happy with the response with #7 so far. Seems the vast majority of you loved it, and I'm tickled pink about that since so much important stuff finally paid off this time around. A few tweaks from the sound of it needed, but nowhere near the rewrites that #5 needed or that #6 is, sadly, still in need of.

Sadly, I haven't quite had time this week for diving into that type of editing.

I'd like to remind everybody that Dark Horse takes place after Skin Games in the Dresden Files continuity. That's book fifteen in the main series, mostly ignoring Side Jobs since I simply have yet to read it.

And the point of divergence for MLP was slash is the mini-hiatus for season five. Making episode #13: 'Do Princesses Dream of Electric Sheep?' the last thing that actually happened as it did (roughly) as in the show.

Chapter seven just passed 30,5 K words, and it's still not done.

However, there is a good point in the middle (ish) I should be able to cut at and still have a quite decent 'wham' moment, so I should be able to wrangle a more 'standard' (for the rest of the story anyway) pair of chapters out of it.

You've probably guessed this already and I mentioned it in the comments of DH, but what I thought would be the easiest bit to write turned out to require ten-times that effort in both words and research time.

So, just a small heads up I'm in 'crunch time' on the chapter and that's why I've been silent. Not much more to add, just that its taking longer than I thought.

Can probably guess this since this is going up early Sunday, but 07 is going to take a few more days.

Going well and the chapter is at about 85-90%, I've just had less time then I thought for writing under this week.

The ending took a lot of tweaking to get just right but I think it should be quite satisfying.

...so I might 'cheat' on Dark Horse again and have a one-shot for that.

It's quite the mile-stone after all, so seems a bit anti-climactic to just have a blog with a party-whistle sound-effect.

Not quite sure I'll have it ready for then, but just a head's up.

Seriously though, I've been tweaking things quite a bit so still progress. Just not the type that shows in pure word count.

I 'lost' about 7 K words slash 19 pages to a take on the chapter's resolution that simply didn't want to work, so a bit less progress this week.

Think the 'final cut' is shaping up decently, though.

I was asked by somebody I sadly can't remember right now why I don't do weekly updates on story status when I have that status box.

This is going to sound slightly rude, but writing Status blogs like this bores me, and I can't even quite make a form for it since I so often need to add why things have either stalled or jumped ahead. Normally in about half a dozen stories as well, and checking word counts over that many documents adds up in time.

Chapter 07 is at 7077 + 397 words, still unsure about the percent done.

I think at the current rate this should be a shorter chapter, 10-12 K or so...

But it's quite the emotional roller-coaster so far, to the point it's a bit hard to write at times.

07 is currently at 3004 + 397 words. Not quite sure about the percentage yet.

Why the odd way to count? You'll see.

Don't mind a bit of speculation, but let's just say for now that a particular part is a bit more technically advanced than the rest, and should hopefully be a neat surprise.

I'd really hoped not to have to do this two times in a row, but I've gotten quite a few complaints about the latest chapter.

I'd also hoped not having to spell it out into the outright text (yet), but apparently I fucked up. Instead of Dresden running at less then 100% mentally right now, to many it came off as the story itself being mangled and distracted.

A reminder, this is what Flutterbat was acting like in the episode proper.
