The LTUE 2018 Report · 10:18pm Feb 16th, 2018

It's time for another LTUE (Life, The Universe, and Everything) report! And this time, not in place of Monday's Being a Better Writer post!

Why, you may ask? Okay, and you may be asking "What's LTUE?" as well. So, in reverse order then.

Just a derivative work of a derivative work · 3:51am Jun 23rd, 2023

Following my cursing Friendship One, I somehow managed to crack [sic] out this first draft of potential idiocy:

To say CMDR Flood was at a loss was... well probably an overstatement, given the losses she would be at later on in life. Actually, when you thought about it, she was indeed at a loss, just not as big as the losses looming in her future.

The Robots are Coming! Are You Ready Fimfiction? · 11:05pm Dec 17th, 2017

Unless you spend all of your time reading fanfiction and never look at the science and technology news, you will have probably picked up that Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic right now. There is no better time to be a top computer science graduate with a PhD in machine learning techniques. Google, Facebook, and other tech giants will sign you up with a huge starting salary, in the expectation that real breakthroughs are imminent, and will lead to algorithms able to directly communicate

Hidden Science Fiction · 10:33am Nov 24th, 2017

When I found this groups with science fiction stories, I noticed that not all the stories there had a Sci-Fi tag. Even in folders like “Hard Scifi” and “Tech in Equestria”. So I may have missed something good when I looked for stories by the tag.

An image, that can illustrate a science fiction story:

A Pox Upon Friendship One! · 1:10am Feb 18th, 2022

Pretty much before the inevitable conclusion of BRBrony9's tragic science fiction story Friendship One, I was already getting the mad idea to start a more upbeat version, this one involving the arrival of the Lakon Diamondback Explorer Stay Back! I Have Lurgi!. Something to do with that commander having the misfortune to witness that star's collapse at far too

[08/02/2020] Future Tactics, and Future Plans 2 · 3:49pm Feb 8th, 2020

Hello everyone! Yeah, I've finally finished the next chapter! With a lot of it, I struggled with the sense of scale I was trying to convey. In a sense, I was thinking of the market scenes you would see in the show Firefly, which to me felt real, alive. I've been in markets like that, back in 2010, when I went down to Guatemala. The markets are loud, filled with bartering, and they're always a treat to be in. You never know what you'll find (In my case, I found an actual Cavalry Saber.

Sci-Fi Classics Humble Bundle · 5:14am Feb 18th, 2016

For anyone interested, I felt I should point out the Sci-fi Classics Humble Bundle currently running (for what looks like two weeks).

As usual for the humble bundles, you get some of the books no matter how much ytou pay, same if you pay more then average, and in this case, some if you pay 15$ or more. Here's a list of what's in there:

Base:

Examining Flaws in Human in Equestria Stories: The Lack of Aliens · 4:01am Feb 25th, 2016

I’ve ranted in the past about how FiM breeds wish fulfillment, and how crossovers fundamentally violate the Law of Conservation of Detail. I mentioned in the latter that Human in Equestria has similar problems. Oddly, despite having similar problems, HiE also has other problems that are all its own (despite crossovers often involving humans anyway).

Potatoes and Space Travel. Two things that very few people would associate with each other. At least that is until a few years ago when published an interesting book about a marooned astronaut that wound up becoming a best seller and later, a highly popular film.

I speak, of course, about The Martian starring Matt Damon with the story written by Andy Weir.

Hello readers! Yes, I know I must apologize for the lateness of this post in coming online. But I had a really good reason, one that I think many of you will sympathize with: I was up extremely late last night reading a book. Which I then finished this afternoon as soon as I could.

Actually, I'm Dead - Autopsy: Schrodinger's Butterfly of DOOM! · 2:29am Sep 17th, 2015

No, not that Doom.

Okay, first of all, this editorial was meant to come before Chapter 7, right after the second interlude. But the absurdly bad timed combination of my nephews coming to visit, a bone-crushing cold and your typical Chilean earthquake delayed its publication, so here it is.
