Ramblings of a Thursday-Morning Insomniac · 2:48am Dec 28th, 2023

Can vice be defined broadly as pleasure/relief gained quickly and without effort?

When something is 'bad', it violates a timeless natural and/or religious law. Is that right? Maybe I should avoid that and get back to the question.

Help! My Heart is Full of Pony! - The Universe · 8:40am Nov 6th, 2019

Scientists calculate that the universe is 13.8 billion years old; that the earth is 4.5 billion. Actual life on Earth on the microbial level is believed to have begun approximately 3.5 billion years ago. And humans, as we know them (homo sapiens sapiens), have only been around for about 200,000 years.

And my Second Story · 2:22am Mar 16th, 2017

Well, I was able to find time to write a second story. It does answer why Twilight had any memory of her trauma at all. It is admittedly short, but I wasn't really intending on going into the attacker's backstory. I'm still intending on rewriting Planned Ponyhood. I'll see how time permits during the school year. It won't be a full rewrite, but I'll extend it out. I'm thinking of going into the days after more thoroughly, and creating a clearer timeline of when the events occurred. I tend to go

Help! My Heart is Full of Pony - Symbols and Ideas · 4:37am Sep 11th, 2017

I have been thinking. When you are an immortal horse princess, you're always on the clock. It's your job not only to rule your subjects, but to inspire them.

Celestia, though far from perfect herself, constantly projects an air of perfection and infallibility, (as dramatized in Royal Problems).

Readings for War Against The Sun · 10:32pm Apr 20th, 2020

Lovely readers, followers, and fans of every stripe, I come to you today to report that I have finished one of the many books that I assigned myself to read before starting my next big project. One of the most influential books in the Monarchist and Authoritarian genre: The Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes, written in 1651.

"Should academics cite those who have breached moral and humane borders?" + Finding Dory review · 11:09am Jun 23rd, 2016

Free Speech and Free Threats · 5:19pm Jun 2nd, 2017

When the subject of free speech is brought up in defense of a statement, it's often said that free speech is only free if there are no restrictions whatsoever; that all lines are arbitrary, and so none should be drawn. This is naive. There is a line; exactly one line, and it is anything but arbitrary. And that is the line between free speech and violent threat.

Why I Write So Much JoJo Even Though I Don't Like Crossovers Much · 12:10pm Jan 1st, 2018

You're might laugh to hear me say it, but I'm not a very big fan of crossovers. I think a lot of them are artless, like jamming square pegs into round holes. Characters aren't just sets of traits and behaviors, they have themes and patterns trailing behind them. You can drop Anonymous into Equestria without any problem, you can even throw Jenny Everywhere in there, but Shinji Ikari? Kenshiro? Super Mario? It can go south fast, is what I'm saying.

to my friends considering the path less traveled by · 5:31am Jun 2nd, 2017

So someone you love tells you that what you believe is wrong.

What are you going to do about it?

You could agree with them. You could spare their feelings, keep them close to your heart, and sacrifice your beliefs (and your sanity!) to keep them happy.

Oh the Humanity · 9:19am Jun 2nd, 2016

This is just my Thoughts about our own world and as a species, For so long we Humans fought each other and have been corrupted with Greed and Sins,

So I think to myself why do we kill our own Brothers and Sisters, our own flesh, blood, and DNA, WE are Humans and still we cheat, we steal, we kill only for our own needs and wants.

Sequel to "Discord Teaches Philosophy" Plan · 11:03pm Apr 3rd, 2018

Dear Bronies and Pegasisters,

I'm happy to announce that I am taking up the challenge to write a sequel to "Discord Teaches Philosophy." And since then, I have been pondering over the past few days in what sort of lessons that the ex-Lord of Chaos would teach as a substitute teacher. I figured that before I go any further then what I already have, I might as well present this plan of a seven chapter long story to all of you to see what you think or what could be changed.

Differences of THIS and THAT · 5:53am Dec 20th, 2018

I noticed my haters are doing a pathetic job of mocking my ENDS OF ENDS 2017, and a very peculiar mock strikes me as odd

They seem to think THERE ARE no differences from ONE thing and ANOTHER.

Most preferably, "There's a difference between LETTING GO and MOVING ON"

The Art of Stoicism and Overcoming One's Self · 2:33am Jul 25th, 2020

I think it's good to reflect on a teaching that has shaped my current worldview, as I believe it is relevant to the current climate we live in. That being the teachings of stoic philosophy.

The Big One, or, A Mishmashed Treatise and Updates to my Idleness · 6:29pm Feb 10th, 2021

Woah! Is that Ruby with a blog? It's been like forever since she's done anything on the site, I thought she forgot about it and stopped reading. That was my impression of you, how'd I do? Anyway, bad jokes aside, to answer the burning question likely none of you had, yes I still remain, and indeed I do still read. In fact, since my last blog, I've read 4 books, and I'm halfway through number 5. So, let's get into it then, I've got no time to waste and there's a lot to cover!

Editorial: Anatomy of an Argument - According to the School of Life · 2:49am Sep 2nd, 2020

The following comes from notes I've gathered up for the upcoming Discord Teaches Philosophy: On Love story. They come from the YouTube channel, The School of Life, and I compiled and stitched together an essay that was originally meant to help me with writing the chapter, but I felt that such information here might prove useful to my readers. Although I technically didn't write this, the information here is still useful for those who may be fighting with someone through an argument.

Sometimes people are meanie meanheads. Sometimes they're going to do things you don't like.

Get the fuck over it.

Someone didn't like your story? Okay. There's always someone who didn't like your story.

Someone added your story to a bookshelf with a weird name? Suck it up. I've got a bookshelf named "Favorited in Self Defense" for a reason.
