My last blog post this morning was really random and poorly thought out. I thought I'd counter that with something more substantial, or at least more coherent.

Before I start here, I should say that I loved the episode. It was a very good way to celebrate 5 years of MLP. It had the CMCs accomplishing something that was 5 years in the making.

So I just got done watching Canned Cream's and Brawny Buck's reviews of the season finale and when the question of why Twilight thought the Nightmare Moon future was worse then the previous two come up and this is my two bits.

Having re-watched Crusaders of the Lost Mark, what strikes me now (with the benefit of hindsight) isn't what grabbed me the first time. It's not the music, or the symmetry in the storytelling (where the CMC's earn their marks by extending kindness to the very pony whose anti-blank-flank cruelty had brought them together in the first place).

This afternoon I've sat down and begun working at my first one shot fic. It's a little piece set just after Cutie Re-Mark I came up with when I asked myself the question, how did Starlight Glimmer get the better of Twilight and began exploring the scenario in my mind.

I hear people everywhere saying that Starlight was willing to go through her revenge even though she knows what'll happen to Equestria. But people seem to keep forgetting that Starlight outright calls what Twilight showed her bullshit (not literally, mind you). Starlight is not convinced at all that her intervention of the timeline actually brings the destruction of Equestria. Whether she doesn't believe Twilight out of spite or because she mistrust Twilight that much is not clear, though.
I've been pushing through my writer's block and have consulted my pre-readers to do so. My intent to release the next chapter in November will likely be met, if barely. After that, however, updates should come much more fluidly. Chapters 8 and 9 are being worked on together, and Chapter 10 is partly written already. In all, we're looking at likely 12 chapters, plus a brief epilogue.
I suppose I should explain what I mean by "potential new members" considering I already did a Top Ten for colts and fillies, and ranked the CMC including Gabby and Babs. This list is exploring ponies that haven't officially joined the CMC yet in canon, but have a strong potential to do so or could benefit from being included. I did a similar list to this a year ago involving ponies who could replace Babs Seed for the fourth member, but Babs really doesn't deserve to be
So far we've seen the CMC fix trouble shoes cutie mark problem, so what if this is an overarching plot? What if their cutie mark is helping people understand their own!
