With nothing new in the hopper (in the US, anyway,) it’s time to start tackling the EqG short backlog. Let’s see what four months has produced:
Two bits of breaking news to take into account. Firstly, another round of Better Together shorts just came out on Discovery Family’s app, and an enterprising soul already has them on Dailymotion. That means it’s time for another round of human shenanigans, with the animators taking full advantage of those swimsuits they made for “Forgotten Friendship.”
If you saw these two thrashing through the water trying not to drown, which one would you save?
a.) Hold a spa day with Rara and Coco and completely avoid both of them.
b.) Give Rara and Coco all the hugs and completely avoid both of them.
Set to premiere on May 20, 2021 on HBO Max, Together Again is the upcoming 3rd 40-minute special of Adventure Time: Distant Lands and it will primarily focus on Finn and Jake.
I'm assuming this is going to be their final adventure and sadly, we're going to witness the death of Jake, which would explain why he didn't appear at the end of Obsidian (only as a tattoo on Finn's chest).
This summer, I'm hoping to reach +400 followers within the next few updates. I've just finished the first chapter of a new fic and am making gradual progress on MMBB Ch 17. However, since I do have a'lot of neglected stories you all are waiting for ages to be updated, I decided that my 400 follower milestone will be celebrated with another fan vote.

We’re not quite through with the Better Together backlog yet. This week, we’ll be looking at the shorts’ school play storyline from start to finish. Places, people!
We may be in an intraseasonal hiatus, but there’s still a week’s worth of animation for me to review before going back to the comics. The Equestria Girls shorts never stopped being a thing. Indeed, they’ve been a thing for long enough that even Hasbro’s sluggish YouTube release schedule has almost caught up to this article. Let’s get started.
So, as I've been watching the various new EG shorts on both YouTube and the Discovery Family Go app, I've discovered something in the dialogue here and there which has convinced me of something: We're not seeing this series in chronological order.
Punk Rock Prom Queen brought up a good point in response to the first part of this timeline. Namely that, no matter how you massage it, Anon-A-Miss just doesn't work in the timeline of events of EG. The idea that after helping defeat the Sirens that the entire school would turn on Sunset that fast seems utterly ridiculous.
We interrupt my Zeno-Achillean efforts to catch up to IDW’s tortoise to take a look at some of the Equestria Girls shorts that have gone up recently. I held back on these because I like being able to provide links to the source material for those who haven’t seen them, and Hasbro has been slow-rolling the YouTube releases to get more people on the Discovery GO app. Thank goodness for Dailymotion.

It's been a long time since I've returned here. It hasn't been a very good year, truthfully. Hard and painful. I'm glad its coming to an end.

Well, that’s what the Discovery Family site’s calling it. Though to my surprise, they've manage to contain themselves enough to stop posting the videos there after putting up a quarter of them over the course of a week. That means I only have enough material for one of these before returning to the comics next week with a long-overdue look at the 2013 annual now that I actually have a copy. (Thanks again, princeps!)
