I've had a lovely week off (not really, I was actually sick but hey we can't always plan things right ;) ) and it is time to get back to work! On Monday Secrets of a Royal Guard will be launching with the Memoirs epilogue. We'll be following the next phase of Silent Knight's life. As with Memoirs I intend for this to be a "serial."

While I work on the next part of Memoirs of a Royal Guard I wanted to stay in touch with everyone. I realize that it will only be two weeks but for an author that updates twice a week that feels like forever! Let's start there!
The title is likely going to be Secrets of a Royal Guard although I'm waffling and considering keeping the Memoirs moniker. Given the plot I've outlined I think the secrets title will work out well. Feel free to throw some feedback my way on that.

If you read the authors note for chapter 55 you'll know that it is, more or less, the end of the originally planned Memoirs of a Royal Guard story. I want to say very clearly that this isn't the end of Memoirs even though I left it with that finality feel (you'll forgive me, I am in love with the original ending)!
For the story I still have a few sub-plots to tie up, cameos to do, and more than a few plots to tell. I view 55 as more of the end of the first book.
With FIMFiction being down all yesterday we didn't feel that the latest chapter of Crystal's Wishes had much time in the sun. Especially for such a big chapter! As a result the Three of Hearts update that was intended to go out yesterday will likely be delayed until later today.
Alright, it didn't take me near as long to go through this as I thought. Thankfully since it was left up to the random number generator I didn't have to agonize over the choices. Before we get to the results a few notes (repeated from my last blog post mostly).

I've been going over the data for the Cameo Call and I thought it would be fun to share some of it with you. First and foremost I want to thank everyone for participating! I ended up with 56 unique submissions! That is a lot of ponies. The process, more or less, worked out well for a first run. Next time* I'll strictly use the Google form. Now, on to the data.

Hello everyone, I hope you had a good weekend! I wanted to do an update to the Cameo Call because we are having quite the turnout. There is some information I want to get out and there are likely actions that you'll need to take.
First, the end date is now 8 April 2015 at around 20:00 Eastern. No new applications and/or corrections will be accepted after this time. They will be rolled over into the next cameo call.
Typically on Friday I would have some sort of story update for you all. I moved the Three of Hearts release up to Thursday this week and I wanted to at least have something for my readers. As such, it is time for another Q&A. First a little house keeping:

As I previously mentioned in blog posts and comments March is shaping up to be a crazy month for Memoirs! I appreciate all the comments and discussion that has been going on surrounding the Gryphon's Roost. It was exactly what I'd hoped to achieve. Obviously we still have a little bit more to go but I did have a couple of announcements.
Schedule Change
Today is a big day for me! I'm launching my new non-serial story Three of Hearts. It is different from Memoirs of a Royal Guard but promises to be fun in its own right.
Three of Hearts features Azurite who has had a brief cameo in the past. She is one of my favorite characters and extremely fun to write.
The story will be ten chapters that I'll release weekly. ToH starts during Memoirs chapter 40 for you timeline folks.
February is drawing to a close and I wanted to give everyone a heads-up on my plans for the immediate future. I think you're all going to be pretty thrilled. For new readers: Danger, some slight spoilers below.
To end February with a bang we'll have two chapters next week. Instead of my usual Monday / Thursday release I'll be doing them on Monday and Friday (there is a reason for that).
I've been writing an awful lot of blog posts lately! Why not one more?
Recently I've finished a self contained story. I've also been working through a lot of future chapters of Memoirs of a Royal Guard. As I did so two things became obvious to me.
1. I was really rusty when I started Memoirs and my style has greatly improved.
2. I know things now that I didn't know when I started Memoirs.
I am a sucker for writing stories around the appropriate real life holidays. Particularly if I can tie in an in-character holiday with it. Obviously Valentine's Day and Hearts and Hooves Day are meant to be very similar.
There will be an appropriately themed Memoirs chapter in February. I'm also working on a non-serial story that is love themed. There is a small chance I'll get at least the first chapter out this month. Stay tuned for that.
Obviously Memoirs is heavily "military" themed. Almost every character is a royal guard and the plot is heavily centered around royal guard activities. For this week's blog post I wanted to discuss my views on Equestrian military matters and explain my version of the guard a bit. Danger: Wall of military-themed text below!
