A Look into the Macabre: What makes something scary? · 3:53am Mar 8th, 2019

This isn't a guide so much as it is me gushing over this show I started watching because holy shitballs is it good.

"The Promised Neverland," AKA, "oh my god what the fuck," is easily the best thriller anime I've seen in a very long time.

Without spoiling too much, here's the synopsis for the story:

The problem with Stripes · 2:08am Sep 1st, 2015

While my big "flagship" story fan fiction thingymadoo hasn't even begun to come close to the point at which I can hype it with blogs, I still feel like my first one should be relevant to it. Specifically, the reason why I don't make much progress on it.

Oh no, an author with basically zero fame and/or credibility has a problem! How tragic!

Rediscovering the Joy of Reading and Writing · 6:48pm Aug 4th, 2019

For the last 8 months (I can’t believe how fast this year has gone!) I have barely been reading or writing. A constant tied of other commitments, work, studying and other such distractions has occupied my time. In the moments where I do get a chance to breath and start reading or writing, I often fail to do so. Instead it’s far easier to watch meaningless YouTube or play games. It’s not work, it’s relaxation.

A week ago today I woke up with a desire to change that.

Sadness isn't Sad; A Short Treatise · 5:46pm Oct 9th, 2017

Of course, it's sad to be sad. Don't get me wrong. What I mean when I say this is; Your protagonist being sad doesn't make a story about sadness, nor should you expect your audience to empathize with that.

Everyone gets sad, obviously. We can relate to a characters' sadness and feel it as our own, when well written. This should serve as a quick guide to common pitfalls and how/why to avoid them.
