Chapter 5 Progress Report · 2:48am Apr 9th, 2016
I think it's coming along very nicely, myself.
I think it's coming along very nicely, myself.
There are only two chapters and an epilogue of this story left to go, and I hope to finish it all before Christmas.
After that I'm not really sure what comes next. In just over a week we'll be getting "What about Discord?" so that might fuel some new fic. Other than that my plans are to finish Eons and perhaps start a fic about Starswirl and Discord's past, where they swap magic tips and go on adventures.
Here with a quick update. Now You Need Us officially has an alternate universe tag!
The alternate universe tag, not an alternate universe tag. But eh, wording.
So after my struggling with writer's block and doubting my ability to entertain people, someone on fanfiction.net leaves me a one sentence review of Wanderlust saying "thank you" and that it "made them cry."
Then logged in (I rarely look at fanfiction.net) and saw these
Sometimes just a few words on a story can make someone feel like they're on the right track.
Thank you.
Okay so I know not many of you follow me for my actual writing (I'm honestly not sure why half of you follow me XD) But I thought I would give you an update on what's happening.
I've been familiar with this site for four years, been registered here for nearly two years, and been posting stories to it for one. During that time, I've become more aware of the rhythm and flow of things here, and how even in an era of declining readership and writers, it appears certain types of stories are far more likely to shoot up the featured list. I guess that speaks to the preferences of both the userbase and the admins. Regrettably, I don't write the types of stories users seem to
I'll be leaving it as a one shot. However, I will be coming back to those themes and Discord's mental state in the later chapters of Taxonomy.
Discord's not over....a hell of a lot of stuff. So it will be addressed at some point.
The pressure is mounting guys! I can feel that monstrous move coming. My little domestic life simply shakes with it.
I've got my pick of distractions, though. I've been walking again. And catching up on shows (who is hyped for West World and Legion!?) Mostly playing video games and writing.
Im working on drafts. A lot of them. I'm hoping to start posting again in a few years. Lots of work to do.
So, while freewriting, I came up with a prophecy that I'm quite happy with... right in the middle of my current project, when it's too late to write it in.
A R G H
*sigh*.
Well, at least I've got one thing thought of for the next project...
From Chuck Palahniuk, Consider This: Moments in my writing life after which everything was different (Hachette 2020):
Jim Mercurio recently wrote a book, The Craft of Scene Writing: Beat by Beat to a Better Script, that I've been meaning to plug here for years, but haven't yet got around to re-reading the book to write the review. It's a book worth re-reading, but I decided to wait until the Audible audiobook was on sale.
Yesterday I checked its price, and it's now--$0!
(For mathematicians: That's $0, not $1.)
You ever wake up and realize how many errors you made in a story?
Jesus Christ.
"Oh Tumbleweed!" you cry, "You are the best at writing things! Tell us how to write things!"
And, benevolent gentleman I am, I oblige. More specifically, I turn to one of my favorite characters to write (even if she doesn't feature in every one of my stories, 'cause nobody's perfect). And so, friends, I humbly present "How to write Applejack, in like three easy steps."
Step One: Drink a drink. Cider is good. Whiskey is better.
Step Two: Watch this:
I love writing, as it’s frequently my preferred medium for not only enjoyment, but stress relief. In my job, I spend a lot of time in the darker places of the human mind, and while I am comfortable there, there are days I need to get out of hell for a while. In his book “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts”, Dr. Gabor Maté (you’re going to get tired of hearing that name from me) writes that addiction is much like the Preta realm shown on the Madala in Buddhist cosmology. The realm of Hungry ghosts is
