It's been a while since plugged one of these, but The Writeoff is about to host another pony Short Story round. Stories must be 2,000-8,000 words in length, set in the FiM universe, and somehow relate to a prompt that will be posted in exactly 26 hours. New Story, It's About Time, Fashion and Paradoxes · 5:38pm Aug 9th, 2015

Just submitted a new story, which is an extended version of something I wrote for the last writeoff: Temporal Irregu-Rarity. In which Twilight thinks a bit deeper about what she was trying to achieve in It's About Time, and Rarity gives a fashion designer's perspective on the Trousers of Time.

Writeoff competition this weekend · 5:42am Dec 9th, 2016

I just finished posting two minifics, We Only Live Twice and Moon Bright, over into my Horizontal Lines short-fiction collection. One's about Bon-Bond's unusual approach to romance, and the other's about the ground's-eye-view of Luna's reformation. You

My recent Flashlight dating horror fic is not popular. :twilightblush:

This is not a surprise, given both the Flashlight hate on Fimfiction and the portrayal of Twilight as a naive, lovesick puppy. But does that really account for the lion's share of its criticism?

No, wait: I actually did edit.

Three New Scraps · 8:51pm Sep 26th, 2015

I've added the three stories that I wrote in the Writeoff this year to my scraps collection, Relics. If you're interested in reading any of them directly, here are the chapter links:

- After the Game
- Ode to Change
- With Apologies to Nonagon

Enjoy. Or not.

On Writing "Sandbar's Essay" · 11:59am Feb 15th, 2020

So this is already a weird start of the year for me. I've never written fanfiction before, MLP was a show I've known since it started but never got into until late-2018, and yet last month I submit a story for a writing contest on this website. I'm interested to see how I did, but at the moment I'm still surprised at the reception I've gotten from the upvotes and the comments I've gotten already.

I hope everyone's had a great October, but now we've reached its end. And you know what that means.

That's right. Ghost stories. Four of them.

In honor of the season, have a few short things that are best read after dark, in the wee hours before bedtime. Enjoy.

Writeoffs — with a twist! · 7:01am Jun 13th, 2017

So, I've repeatedly plugged the Writeoffs before. (If this "Writeoff" thing is news to you, I urge you to click one of those links — which contain much more comprehensive sales pitches for how they can improve your writing, make you friends, gain your stories popularity, and cure cancer.) I'm speaking up because it's that time again: on

Pronunciations, and Other Happenings · 11:33pm Jul 14th, 2015

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today, I learnt that I didn’t even know how to pronounce my own username correctly. Props to one Neighrator Pony for correcting me on this; he’s a pretty cool guy.

Oh, and he also does damn fine dramatic readings:

New story incoming! Also, I edited some stuff for people. · 11:28pm Nov 29th, 2015

In the last writeoff, I took fourth place with "Collapse Failure", which wasn't too bad for my first time ever entering one of these things.

After some cleanup work, I've got a version of it ready for here on FimFiction, too! Check out the cover art:

The story will probably go up on Tuesday, so be watching for that.

Things are slow since the semester recently started and we also got a pet rabbit named Roxy. :yay:

Pretty much this. No: exactly this.

I'm in the current minific Writeoff with only one little entry, but I'll be posting it as soon as the Writeoff ends (probably in two weeks, since I expect it to make the cut).

Welp, Writeoff is over. Going to be releasing my fic that I wasn't able to submit for the contest this weekend. · 8:33pm Sep 3rd, 2015

Get hyped. Dark fic about Distant Shores...

Not EG mane six, but a humanized mane six. Might be fun to explore?

We'll see when It falls.

Also, in other news, I'm not healthy. In about thirty minutes, I'm going back to the dentist due to the spot where my wisdom tooth was (lower left). That spot is now infected. Been dealing with it the whole day, so I'd like to get it fixed. You know, swelling is a bit obvious when walking on campus.

[Promotion] The Writeoff begins today! · 3:28pm Apr 22nd, 2016

The Writeoff is a Fimfiction-hosted competition for both FiM and original fiction writers alike. It is usually hosted every two-four weeks depending on if Roger wants to or not.

I have competed in this competition in the past. Haven't done so well.

And when I mean haven't done well...

I mean not well at all.

The worst score in the FiM category. I got it in one competition. :D

Love Needs No Words · 1:47pm Jan 30th, 2016

It is said that when two alicorns are in flight, their graceful motion can be likened to a feather dancing among the light breeze. Among the star-studded sky, or the clear vault of the noon, be it rain, hail or shine, the sisters interweave a song of natural grace, beauty and awe. For those who look on, they knew that this would be both the beginning as well as the end. Between them, there would be no words, for their gestures said it all.

Writeoff Reviews #39 - Best Laid Plans - Compilation of Reviews · 12:11pm Aug 1st, 2015

I went crazy this week and reviewed every single minific in the latest writeoff competition. 109 stories. Over 13,600 words worth of reviews.

I posted all of these previously on the writeoff forum, but I’m posting a compilation post on my blog for reference.

For those of you who aren’t in the writeoff: you can probably ignore this post, as many of these stories are in a rough draft state and will be revised and expanded before they end up on FIMFiction in their final form.
