Filly Vanilli is an interesting episode. It starts with the Mane Six accidentally overhearing Fluttershy's singing voice. They are so enamored of its beauty, that they pressure her to sing in public. Of course, Fluttershy has stage fright and is far too nervous to even dream of it.

They say that Top Gun was a two-hour advertisement for itself; Equestria Girls was a one-hour highlights reel of itself. If it had been three hours long, the fandom would have hailed it as a classic of its genre; two hours, and it would have been brisk and engaging, if a little cursory in spots; with the one-hour runtime we actually got, it was a sort of corporate faceplant. You have to take the movie's word for it on a lot of things, and you have to watch the subtext like a hawk;
Well, since the last review was appreciated, and since people seem to actually want my input for whatever reason, here's a review of a story by Saberking2012 called, "A Talk Between Sisters".
I believe in magic. Actual literal magic.
I believe that magic is to be found anywhere that there is laughter, because really, think about it! What is laughter anyway?
How does Luna not know what fun is?
This is what a lot of us asked when they first watched Luna Eclipsed (S02E04) and Luna asked Applejack " Fun? What is this fun thou speakest of?"
There was quite a bit of discussion about it, and the question was asked again when Princess Twilight Sparkle (S04E02) revealed that Luna, the Princess Who Did Not Know Fun, had held the Element of Laughter way back when.
Here's my take on this.
So, I recently hatched up this idea to do a blog post in which I quote bits from a story I wrote and make comments about it. I believe this came about due to being inspired by the "Story Notes" blog posts from user AlwaysDressesInStyle (who is an awesome writer), and the fact that this story, Tickling Try-Out, has produced quite a lot of parts that have really gotten me thinking... after I wrote them.
One of the things I love about this fandom is how seriously a lot of us take it. Subject matter that's supposed to be whimsical gets analyzed from a thousand different angles, and you end up having some pretty weird conversations. Here's a philosophical dialogue I had with a stranger on Facebook yesterday:

So I finally stumbled across a YouTube upload of Saturday's episode (at least I think it was Saturday's. I still haven't seen the Nightmare Night one, so I'm a little mixed up). I love it. I love it so much that I'm blogging about it immediately after watching it at 5 in the morning (don't judge). But not quite enough to take screencaps.
Characters I would consider shipping with Discord but likely do not have the stamina to write:
Twilight (I like the love/hate banter dynamic)
Derpy- yes, DERPY. Because Discord seems to have a thing for shy, adorkable pegasi, so I can see him going for her type.

So I made a video about some basic GM mistakes that happens to work by analyzing how some characters in My Little Pony handle it when they sit down to play a role-playing game. I think the lessons are applicable to any GM of almost any game, specifically D&D/Pathfinder and its ilk.
I'd love to hear what others think of it, and the video quality (Only my second one since I started doing this, I know there's more refinement to be had).
The theme of season six was "Explore Equestria," and the show made good on its promise. It expanded on season five's goal of developing, and expanding exotic locations within the MLP universe. We got to see the Dragonlands, and Pony Vegas. We also got to see...wherever the heck the changelings live.
Real Power
Season 2, Episode 9.
Power. One fundamental part of the human condition is that we all crave more power than we already have.
If you guys remember a while back, I made a blog post talking about why judging people's kinks and fetishes isn't fucking cool. And I gotta say, I'm glad it got so much positive feedback and discussion in response to it. However, despite venting out my thoughts on the matter, it still pisses me off to no end when people keep doing it.

For Labor Day, I just want to take a moment to commemorate the heroes of the labor movement who fought to give us the 40 hour work week, the weekend, safer work conditions, and protection from child exploitation in the workplace.
I recently stumbled upon an essay I wrote after the alicornification of Twilight, addressing the fandom's split response to it.
I'm sharing it now because some of the points I made feel relevant somehow now that the show is over. It's also mind-blowing to look back.
