On Cloudsdale · 9:57pm Jun 2nd, 2021

Cloudsdale is one of the main component states of Homestria, guarding much of its western border. Stretching approximately 130 kilometers north-south from the northern Cloudsdale Range to the White-tail Woods and approximately 210 kilometers east-west from the Spear Gate to Storm's Deep, this state is a study in contrasts, between north and south, east and west, mountain and valley, clear and storm, Hurricane and Pansy, war and peace.

Griffin Music · 1:58pm Oct 21st, 2018

In the last chapter of A Bug on a Stick (chapter 15) there was a lot of music. Or, better said, music played an important role, and I tried to convey the feeling and the effect it had more than describing it exactly, as doing that would have probably been an exercise in futility. And yet I had some very specific sounds in mind while writing the scene and seeing it play out in front of my internal eye.

Surprise! · 6:15pm Jun 30th, 2017

Surprise! :pinkiehappy:

Right now you might be wondering: "Why the hell did that idiot changed it's name and avatar? wtf?"

Well, I changed it because I planned for this account to be FoE only but you know what? Screw that!

Now you can call me Animus... or Anima ... or Mundus... or you can call me "The Mighty Draconequus WorldBuilder" (I like the last one a lot :trollestia:)

"Whatever! what about the story dumbass? FoE: Stars' chapter 7 is late as fuck!"

World Building, Character Creation, and all the little details! · 2:06am Mar 5th, 2021

So I'm not sure if anyone'll actually find this a useful little piece, but I got into talking about world building and character creation last night. It's actually quite an interesting subject and thought I'd write up my process of how I go about creating characters and the worlds they interact with.

Worldbuilding XII: Farming part 2: Plowing · 12:20am Sep 30th, 2018

We're going to talk about plowing, which is quite honestly probably the hardest part of the job because dirt is heavy. Unfortunately, it's something that you have to do every year . . . at least, if you want a crop that's worth something.

Snowpony lore dump · 5:49pm Mar 4th, 2022

So the snowpony phenomenon exploded out of /mlp/ last year. It slowed down significantly by now, but during it's peak, people were making everything from music and stories to snowpony tea and patches.

Worldbuilding - Map to the Future · 3:00pm May 26th, 2018

A lot of people really like my Map of Equestria. I've recently made a new map in another style that some of you may enjoy. The map is blank for now, but the natural features are all there and I would like to know what you guys think of this art style. How does this make you feel? What does it make you think of?

I plan a story, and detail my creative process. · 4:24pm Jul 24th, 2017

Boom, I'm back.

Just got an idea: I got this big ol' map of Equestria, complete with a shit load of races, some new and some canon, and where they go. I need to do something with that. I have no idea what, but something.

Maybe like a Wanderings of a Non-Brony, or Ballad of Echo the Diamond Dog style 'imma just go and see what happens' style story.

Steal Smoked Fish, or, Fishing Slaves Lives · 6:06am Jul 5th, 2022

So in the background I’m working on a book about an alternate history of Earth where, one day, it started raining and never stopped. As part of the research for this I’m reading three books at the moment; Against the Grain and Seeing Like a State by James C Scott, and David Graeber’s last book Dawn of Everything. They’re all books that cover pre-agricultural civilization and see agriculture not as an inevitable step in the march of progress, but as a decision that was made and had oppressive

Unit of Measurement · 5:39am Jan 18th, 2018

It seems inevitable that the unit of power in the Systemé Equestriané should be our old friend, the horsepower.

However, it also seems impossible that it’s the piddling seven-hundred-and-some watts that our horsepower is. Not unless we want to argue that Big “House-Dragger” Mac and Maud “Instant Erosion” Pie, among many others, are putting out many times the notional horsepower.

It only looks worse if we stick with Watt’s assumption that a horsepower was 150% of a ponypower.

On the subject of magic in a rational universe · 7:18pm May 12th, 2019

So, I've been reading a lot, and this has been bugging me, quite a bit actually.

How could the concept of "magic" be explained in a universe that is rational? For example, our universe.

Note: for the rest of this posting, unless noted otherwise, the word "magic" will refer to the concept - and observed effects - of effecting control over matter and energy, as seen on the show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic".
