I'm terrified of driving on freeways, but like all Pavlovian fears the only way to conquer them is to expose yourself to them... trick is, its from the freeway to the middle of down town Columbus. on a saturday. If you're going to Trotcon in Dayton Ohio this year (July 7-9), you may have noticed that the 2 con hotels are each about a mile away from the convention center. Google Maps says that the "Datyton [sic] Vitality Hotel" is directly across the street from the con center; but if you click on it, you find it has an address (33 E 5th St), but no website or phone. If you check availability, you'll find it's never available.

I'm getting super excited for Trotcon tomorrow! I hope to buy some fun stuff and meet new friends. That said, I will be working for a large chunk of it in the game room as well as helping a friend at a vendor booth.

Trotcon 2022 is over and done, having been my first pony convention. Gonna muse and retrospect in bullet points.

-Not too crowded! Some lectures filled up quickly, but in general there was a very pleasant balance of both elbow room and a sense of being at a busy convention. I didn’t go for autographs or the night market so maybe I just happened to skip everything that would feel like ‘line-con.’

While not impossible financially, it would be a lot easier on my bank account if I was able to split a hotel/airbnb (or, if you live in the NYC metro area, split a rental car for the 9 hour drive to Dayton). I had a hell of a great time! There's quite a bit I wish I filmed more of, but after two hours of rendering (and my computer shutting down due to an overheat when rendering before), I'm thankful I didn't.

Trotcon was a pretty incredible experience, but in a lot of ways quite bittersweet. I had a blast meeting friends in person for the first time, and many of the panels were fun.
