There are some fairly major changes this time, especially to Part 30 - Judge Off Court.
The Derpy/Ditzy/Bright Eyes and Lenora chapters have received their editing passes and overhaul. Mostly minor changes, including the usual merciless removal of all usages of 'violet unicorn' and easing off on elipses, but among other things, I finally
Part 57 - Revealed Racers is the chapter that you'll either remember for Phoenix's long talk with Trixie, or all the Frozen references. As I agree with the benefit of hindsight that I royally overdid the latter, all but one has been removed. And the only reason I kept that one was so I could turn around and subvert it:
Not a winner, but I had a blast (pictures will be available in a future post), and I made some headway on Turnabout Storm chapter revamps as well. No less than four updated chapters were posted last night, meaning the entire story through Part 37 is now updated. Aside from the usual edits, I added some additional details in several places, including how and why Pinkie is able to do metalwork and regarding how exactly Twilight summoned Phoenix and The Judge originally:
Including a new graphic.
Finished off the last two chapters this past weekend. Part 66 - Revelry, Race and Return had no major changes; just the usual cleanup plus a tweak or clarification here and there. For the most part I was already pretty happy with it, though I did make it a point to update one of the graphics:
Parts 24 and 25 have been revamped, and this includes some major changes to Part 24 - Double Blackmail, the second meeting of Phoenix with Sonata where he breaks her psyche-locks.
Aside from the usual edits and dialogue/detail additions, I made two major changes: first, I dropped Pinkie’s fourth wall break when she told Phoenix to go to Fluttershy’s cottage based on what was in the script, since I don’t want to imply this story isn’t really happening, replacing it with a different Pinkie-sense based explanation. Second, I changed Pinkie’s reason for missing the trial to something a bit more acceptable and much more in keeping with her character.
Part 42 - Fluttershy: Lost and Found, you may recall, was the second bonus chapter I wrote, detailing Twilight's efforts to find Fluttershy after she was told off by Rainbow and left the courthouse crying. It was originally suggested by TheGoldCrow as a possible bonus topic, and Raven asked me to include the OCs of herself and her friends (including me) in it as a gift to

Well, it's been 10 days since The Lawyer and The Unicorn (T-rated version) was released, and the response to it has been extremely tepid at best. To this point, in fact, it's underperformed even my low expectations, garnering less than six comments and an even worse upvote-to-downvote ratio than TLaTU-M. I wasn't expecting a blockbuster performance by a T-rated rerelease of an already-completed M-rated story, but I also didn't think that readers would be so few.
Everything through the end of the first day of trial (part 12) has been completely revamped. The chapters have been carefully edited and expanded to include additional detail and dialogue, and use a lighter touch on the early shipping. I also dramatically cut back on overuse of Lavender Unicorn Syndrome (or Violet Unicorn Syndrome in this case--it really made me grimace rereading this how often I did it back then), fixed some of the more stilted lines, added a few additional Ace Attorney game
It was unsolicited, but still welcome, and I'd like to thank the reviewer, darksymphony777, for running it past me first before simply posting it to the story comments. His review is twenty minutes long and a bit on the stream-of-consciousness side, but definitely worth listening to as he addresses all the major parts and issues of the novelization in turn.
With the M-rated Lawyer and The Unicorn side story/follow-on now finished, would there be interest in a T-rated version of the 12-chapter trial that occurs in the middle of it? Called "The Heart's Turnabout", it settles the question once and for all of whether what Twilight and Phoenix feel for each other is real. The premise is that following a fight with Phoenix, Twilight is the victim of an attempted dreamtime possession by The Nightmare, the same entity that once possessed Princess Luna and
A couple weeks ago, I asked if folks would be interested in a T-rated version of The Heart's Turnabout, the trial that takes place during The Lawyer and The Unicorn. I got just three yeas, which was marginal for doing it, while others told me it wasn't worth it.

Like updating Turnabout Storm. The prelude plus first five chapters have been redone and reposted. Updates include a careful editing pass, lot of dialogue additions and changes (honestly, the first video part’s dialogue was a bit stilted in places), fleshing out and adding additional details and graphics, and toning down the early shipping. I also added some things to make the story mesh a bit better with what
I asked for ten yea votes to do it, and I got nine. But there were also two yea votes by different readers for the T-rated version for the trial, so counting those, that makes 11. Threshold exceeded, so as promised, a T-rated version of The Lawyer
