EverfreeNorthwest has just released the newest blog update on the Scribblefest competition. They have announced about the submissions being closed closed a few days prior, and have just recently posted the list of stories that have made it into the competition.

We did this last year and we're doing this again, although admittedly I won't be able to go through nearly as many stories as last time due to this being my final year in university and me being busy as all get-out. Back for round five. Lets see what this latest batch has to offer! We've got a bit more slice of life again (which is absolutely no problem for me: just leaves the Dash award even more open for Weatherpony, if you ask me!) but the theme that dominates this round is actually mystery, which I wasn't expecting.

Like I mentioned in my last one of these, I've stopped reading through three at a time because I've been getting much busier, and will only be reading and giving my thoughts on stories that either get requested or recommended to me directly. So there's only going to be one story in this one, I'm afraid.

Submissions ended one week ago for Scribblefest 2016, and our panel of judges has been hard at work reading through all the submissions and evaluating them. In our initial round (which will likely take another week or so) each judge is nominating up to one story per award to move on to the next round. While we await the results of this first round however, I know many of you are anxious to read them yourselves and see what the competition is like. I've collected all the entered stories (minus
Since I very rarely actually take any time to read things outside of TGB stuff, I always like doing brief reviews and/or recommendations of other stories that appear in contests, particularly the EFNW contests, since they often have nice convenient word limits I can easily digest. So, that's what I'll be doing now: taking a look at some of the contest entries and giving a few thoughts on them, as well try and recommend them to anyone who might be interested. Hello. With there having been around two weeks since the Everfree Northwest Scribblefest began judging, I thought it'd be cool to spend a little bit of procrastination time to talk about how Weatherpony (my entry) got written. Quite a few changes got made throughout the story from its original form (for the better, in my opinion).
So, without any further ado, I guess I'm gonna talk about Weatherpony. The long version. Not the version I stuck in the author's notes in the story.

I'm thinking about taking a break from writing until the results come in. February took a lot out of me, and I think I deserve a rest. Once the results are made public, I plan to get right back into it.

I've gotten through another three stories that have all been submitted to the 2016 Scribblefest and I'm going to give my own thoughts regarding whether I liked them or not and who I'd recommend them to, depending on your tastes. Hopefully a few of you will find something cool to read from these blogs, and if you already found something you enjoyed, please post it in the comments below, so I can make reading it a priority.
I've done my best to find some different tags this time around for round 3. This time, I have a rather wider variety of stories that I read. I've got a dark tag, a comedy tag, a romance tag, a random tag, a horror tag, even, and of course, another slice of life tag. With a bit of luck, this batch should be a lot more varied, and might interest a few more of you. Let's begin!
Just a quick post that my Scribblefest story Marble's Horizon was recently reviewed by Titanium Dragon, a well known writer and reviewer here on the site. He previously reviewed The Reality I Choose as well. He apparently found Marble's Horizon a bit more to his liking, though, so that was nice.
