Pony Talk Episode 44-The Myth of the Mary Sue · 11:06pm Jun 11th, 2017
A true Mary Sue is harder to come by than you might think.
A true Mary Sue is harder to come by than you might think.
Ahem. And-a-one, and-a-two, and-a-three...
"Writers can express their muse,
On FiM-Fic-tion."
"OCs, tropes, and Mary Sues,
Sick a-dic-tion!"
"Might leave a 'like'; wait,
That's story's cliche!"
"Horestales! Woo-oo!"
"Tales like Daring Do? Nah!
It's Horsetales! Woo-oo!"
"Every day, we're in here making horsetales! Woo-oo!"
"Tales like Daring-Do, bad and good horsetales! Woo-oo!"
Well, it hasn't been out long, and not only have I been attacked by a hater, but haven't gotten any constructive criticism yet. The words he said were...rather unsavory. If there's something I could do to be better, I really, really hope you'll tell me what it is instead of forcing me to guess for myself. I just want to be a good writer, and make things that people will enjoy. I'm not expecting money for it. I just want to do this for fun and to make other people happy. I have depression, sleep
I have found my Joss Whedon: A relatively new and low writer called The IDA Official. I trust him with this project; we both chatted about this project and he's willing to follow my vision, but adding his own flair to it.
Warning: This episode is really, really bad. Oh, and there's also spoilers since I guess the episode hasn't aired yet. Believe me, though, you can read and you won't have much of any worth spoiled for you.

Your pitiful attempt to imprison me has FAILED, Starswirl!
I wouldn't exactly call a thousand years a failure, but whatever.

Creating a ‘good’ character is an evergreen topic in many groups on this site, so I thought it might be worth a shot to dedicate another miniguide to it. Here I’ll focus primarily on some aspects of a character’s role in a story and the ways in which these aspects affect character creation. The guide might be also a bit messier than usual as putting together these various tidbits of advice would require a far longer text to be somewhat coherently connected.
While my big "flagship" story fan fiction thingymadoo hasn't even begun to come close to the point at which I can hype it with blogs, I still feel like my first one should be relevant to it. Specifically, the reason why I don't make much progress on it.
Oh no, an author with basically zero fame and/or credibility has a problem! How tragic!

In a previous post, I invented a categorization system for fiction based on its intent. I created three broad categories—Propaganda, Entertainment, and Art—and attempted to explain what they were.
Hello, loves. Just wanted to make a quick blog to provide some updates on what I've been working on, and also to humblebrag in the form of philosophical wondering.
First, new story, which came out like two weeks ago so y'all have probably already seen it. I wrote it as a Jinglemas present – my third, if you've been keeping count – and although it's shorter than most of my other work, I think it's still pretty funny.
You know, it’s almost impressive it took this long for a direct post on this topic to come up.
Hello, hello! First off, if you missed it, a Patreon blog about a topic and character near and dear to my heart went out rather late last night, and that would be Sunset Shimmer! So maybe give that a read if you want a crash-course on what things of mine she’s been in and my opinions of her development in canon.
