Independence Day: Resurgence · 1:40pm Jul 5th, 2016

Okay, i'll admit, I enjoyed the film in a take-your-brain-out-and-don't-think-too-hard kind of way.

It was fun, though the attempts at the human suffering angle the first film had a reasonable crack at, were half hearted at best. They felt like something to fill in the gaps between action sequences, which were plentiful and well presented. So, for a special effectstravaganza that doesn't worry about trying to go all plot on you, points for the film.

Michael Bay would have been proud.

Happy 4th of July! · 7:42am Jul 4th, 2021

245 years ago 56 men signed a unanimous declaration that the thirteen colonies would henceforth be free and independent states. They signed knowing that they would be declaring war on the biggest empire the world had ever known, and it was not an idle pledge, the signants were killed, captured, imprisoned, had their wives and children imprisoned, were bankrupted, had their houses burned down, or lost everything they owned.

Independence Day · 12:12pm Jul 4th, 2021

While I tend to not be very into all the freedoms and rigjts, I must admit that it's still a good place to live for the most part. In tact, the problem isn't the rights, freedoms and privileges, it's the type of people they're so recklessly given out to. Regardless:

Happy 4th of July!
And
God Bless America!

Question of the Week #62 · 2:28am Jul 6th, 2022

Hello everyone and welcome back to the question of the week. Yesterday we celebrated the USA's Independence Day, or at least most of us did. Apparently there are some ungrateful people in this country who will try to make a fuss for no good reason. :ajbemused:

But I digress.

Yep, it's here, folks! Right on time, thanks to some help from my trusty illustrator and editors, here it is: the latest chapter of The Iron Horse: Everything's Better With Robots! My fellow Americans, let us celebrate the birth of our country by blowing up a small part of it, eating some grilled meat, and, um, reading pony fanfics! (Truly, the most patriotic of activities.)

Today is known in the United States of America as Independence Day. If you are wondering why my blog title says "to all" instead of specifying Americans, that's just because I feel like posting this awesome speech from a fairly well-known movie:

I believe you will be hard-pressed to find a more fitting speech for today from any other disaster movies. :ajsmug:

Am I the only one who enjoyed "Independence Day: Resurgence"? · 6:16am Jun 27th, 2016

As a HUGE fan of the original film, I was so happy to finally see ID:R in theaters and to my delight, I really enjoyed it (so much so that I had my second viewing today, and a third scheduled for Tuesday). Yet, it seems like no one else seems to like it. I acknowledge that the movie has too many characters, little to no sense of dread (except with Jasmine and Julius fighting to outrace death), a rushed pace, and the most blatant cliffhanger ending I've ever seen, but I still enjoyed it, even

Chasing Ideals · 5:09pm Jul 4th, 2019

No country is without flaw. Countries, after all, are made of people, and there is not one of us walking the earth today who is perfect. No matter how well-crafted the government, how strong the moral underpinnings of the nation, how noble the intentions of the people, the country will be flawed. To change a country for the better is a slow and painful process, one often taking centuries of reform and healing, and in the time it takes to undo an evil a great many injustices will be committed.
