Two bits of breaking news to take into account. Firstly, another round of Better Together shorts just came out on Discovery Family’s app, and an enterprising soul already has them on Dailymotion. That means it’s time for another round of human shenanigans, with the animators taking full advantage of those swimsuits they made for “Forgotten Friendship.”
I admit, I don’t have high hopes for an episode that sounds like a six-year-old trying to insult Pipp’s business. But hey, I could be wrong. (I’m not sure if this is pessimistic optimism or optimistic pessimism.)
When we last left the manga, Pinkie had tried just about everything to break out of a time loop, up to and including abducting Princess Celestia. Time to see what she hasn’t tried yet.
Chapter 2-5
Ah. Pinkie isn’t sure what’s left either. Though she’s still able to provide metahumor even in her lowest moments.
So, as I have come to understand, the main G5 IDW line has been replaced by/subsumed into a series of mini-series and one-shots that feels like the equivalent of a network trying to kill a show by bouncing it around the schedule. Hopefully I’m being paranoid there.
Ahoy, mateys! It may be a bit late for Talk Like a Pirate Day, but after captaining Admiral Brass and crew to the top eight of me local prerelease, I be feeling saltier than a piece of hardtack soaked in sea spray. Now, let’s see what happens when a literal yellow-belly has to address a mate’s case of scurvy.
Hello, all. Especially those Scootorphaners who have discovered yoga and are now performing the Urdhva Dhanurasana. 
Ponyville is many things. One could see it as Celestia's greatest societal success story, where all ponies live together in harmony. One could see it as a hub of adventure, with the Everfree right next door and the capital a few hours away by hoof. One could just see it as a sleepy suburb of Canterlot that got a whole lot more interesting once the new librarian came to town. But in the end, there is one truth that no interpretation can deny:
This week, the spotlight’s pointed at some secondary characters, with new creations and old grudges on display. Sounds like fun to me.

One could argue that I should be doing something from the main comics, but I feel the holiday special counts. Besides, this lets me delay some of the more egregiously stupid storylines for another week, which is definitely a win in my book. So, let’s take a look at two stories of friendships in trying times.
This episode marks the beginning of a long goodbye. This week, it’s Amy Keating Rodgers’s last pony contibution. Next week, it’s the end of Season 5. Let’s see how the first part plays.
Ah, the Wonderbolts. They don’t have a very good track record, do they? They were introduced as Equestria’s best fliers, but it seems like every season has an episode dedicated to making them look bad.
Well, this worked out nicely, didn’t it? Just enough time between seasons for me to get to and wrap up the FIENDship mini-series. In this final week before the Season 7 premiere, let’s take a look at things from the antagonists’ perspective.
FIENDship is Magic: The Many Tales of Queen Chrysalis
This week, we take a look at the first of the early bird episodes. Suitably enough, the head of the flock is a Fluttershy episode. In some ways, it is the Fluttershy episode, and an appropriate subject for my five hundredth blog.
Happy Easter Fool’s Day! I suppose this involves trying to convince people you’ve discovered the Easter Bunny and hope they don’t notice you’ve put rabbit ears on a platypus. Not that that has anything to do with the episode; just reminding you to put even less trust in what you read on the Internet than usual today.
Technically speaking, the hiatus doesn’t end until the start of August, but Discovery Family saw fit to give us a taste of things to come. And it apparently tastes like Seussian bagpipes and bleeding ears. Let’s take it from the top.
Wherein the Bearers of Harmony face off against one of their greatest adversaries: Cheap, off-brand knockoffs.
Wherein we see why Wisdom shouldn’t be your dump stat, especially not if you’re a wizard.
This week’s forecast: A drama front is sweeping into central Equestria, escalating minor conflicts and bringing long-simmering issues to a boil. Everyone is advised to stay as far from Castle Canterlot as possible. Maybe visit Ponyville for a while. It’s not like the Bearers will be—
Breaking news, I have some words to eat.
One of the hazards of posting reaction blogs shortly after the episode is that they capture volatile opinions that may mellow over time and rewatching the episode. “28 Pranks Later” is a lot better on the second watch, when you know how long scenes will last when before they seemed interminable. (I’m looking at you, Pernicious Prank Polka.) At leafst, that’s how it felt for me.
Well, this is bittersweet. May well be the last time I ever watch Discovery Family. Pony’s pretty much the only reason I watch TV anymore. Or was, anyway.
But enough gloom. We have perhaps the last bit of televised G4 animation to cover, and cover it I shall.
