I'm working on a State of the Horizon post, but in the meantime, a few quick con-related things:
Phew. What a month. I can’t believe August is already over. Totally insane, right?
Seriously. I need to find a freaking time stop spell just so I can get some stuff done. Always so much to do… and then there’s always something that pulls my attention away from what I should be doing!
Readers! I have news! For you! Which I mentioned in Monday’s Being a Better Writer post but is finally getting its own post here. Submission calls are open for LTUE’s fourth Benefit Anthology, Parliament of Wizards!
"I mean if she were your sister how could you not?"
Exactly, unknown, yet fiendish, Twitter user! Exactly!
And our parents attempting to keep us apart just means I ended up getting a used pregnancy test in the mail.
I honestly don't even think people are supposed to send things like that using the postal service, because um, biohazards or something along those lines.

Pardon my dust.
Yes, that’s right, I’m back, though I never really left so much as vaguely sauntered just offscreen. I haven’t really been reading a whole lot of stuff, or writing a whole lot of stuff, or really even doing a whole lot of stuff for the last month. I just kind of… vanished. Played a bit of Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard’s new MOBA game… but frankly, that’s not where I’ve been.
I’ve just been gone.
Well, it’s time I finally got down to reviewing this series. It’s got spaceships, battles, and - most importantly - robots! Let’s take a look at this tale set a few centuries into Equestria’s future: “Void Trials” and “Void Trials 2: Horizon” by Obsi!
There are times when you realize you’re just wasting your time doing things that don’t matter, not only to anyone else, but also to yourself.
That you can be doing so much more.
I have these realizations constantly. And yet, so often, they are Ignored Epiphanies, and I go on, doing the same thing, even though not even I like it.
Playing a game I don’t enjoy to completion.
Arguing with people on Reddit.

This could also be called “four shipfics and a random story”. In my Rarity shipping kick, I read the rather strange Every Mare Needs Her Stallion as well as three RariLight pieces. Then, just to round things off, I read one of the highest rated stories on FIMFiction, Discord Applies for Citizenship Papers, which happens to also be extremely short.
How did they all stack up?
Read on.

*gasp* I actually have a character design for her? Impossible!
So, yeah... due to that mishap with my internet on Wednesday, I am having a review today:
Pinkie Pie's Last Nightmare Night by Admiral Biscuit
Pinkie Pie Places Her Tongue on a Polar-temperature Pole by Justice3442
Anyone You Want Me To Be by naturalbornderpy
While clearing out my “Read It Now” bookshelf of stories which were more than a month old, I ended up noticing a number of stories that I had put off reading that had what seemed to be intriguing premises and got sucked into reading them instead of cleaning out my bookshelf.
Oh, well.
Evening folks, how are ya all?
I realize I've been pretty quiet on this site lately. Most of my blogs have been update blogs, and they've really been minor ones at that. I've published a few chapters of Cyclosa, but that's one of my lesser viewed stories so I imagine the least likely to perturb anyone. And yet its the one i'm prioritizing cause I'm apparently dumb.
Advisory: contains unmarked spoilers for Slouching Toward Canterlot. Her Soldiers, We, The Never-ending Sacrifice, and Rainbow Dash Discovers Erotic Mind Control.
I've been on a huge Actress Square slump for a while, wondering if I was making the book exciting enough, stalled at Chapter Nine, and then tonight...all that changed. I just sat down to work on it, and suddenly, I actually finished the chapter! It may not be the perfect story or the perfect draft, but I kinda sat down with myself and said that it doesn't necessarily have to be. All it has to do is outline my thoughts as best I can, and everything else can always be changed.
Sometimes, you just want to read a good story.
This is one of those times.

The First Time You See Her by Skywriter
The Hypocrisy of Tolerance by Estee
Of Angels by Paul Asaran
This is a Clopfic by Tumbleweed
Sometimes Never by Blueshift
Growing up, I never was near any comic book stores that I new of. I only read the comic strips in the newspapers.
because this chapter I'm writing is getting kinda long tbh and it hasn't even gotten to the longest part I have planned
o As they’re walking to the place where the breakfast buffet is being held, Timothy asks Lisa to guess how old he is, just as a bit of lighthearted joking.
§ Leads to a slight existential event in Lisa instead.
