Read It Later Reviews #79 – Twice As Bright, Sparkle Date Me, “Special” Delivery, The Bounce Test, Shut Up · 7:06pm Jun 27th, 2017

Back in April, I started on a set of Read It Now reviews. I ended up reading a couple stories for it, and then forgetting I had started a review set and never finishing it.

Today, as I went to read some recent stories, I realized that I had an unfinished review set, and as it wasn’t really quite timely, I merged it into this.

Is that... light?

I apologize for my long absence; for the last few months I wandered out into dark caves and buried myself there. I had no reason for doing so; I simply did. It is not that I lost interest, or found something more interesting to do; indeed, there was little to do in the dark.

I just hid. From what?

Myself, perhaps?

Read It Now Reviews #109 – Auk-ward…, RariTwi Shipping, A Proper Pair of Idiots, Three Letters, My Wings Will Keep You Safe · 6:42pm Jul 31st, 2017

I originally started this review set on April 15th. I got three stories done, and then forgot I had started a set. By the time I got back to it, it was the end of June, so I figured I probably should move them over to a Read It Later review set.

And then sat on it for another month.

Horizon publishing a story this morning, along with a request from someone who had gotten a featured story, spurred me to finish this set.

Today’s stories:

Read It Later Reviews #1 - A Confederacy of Dunce Caps, Going Anywhere, On the Importance of Spelling, Awaken, Scootaloo, and Fugue State · 6:00am Nov 24th, 2014

A common symptom of being on FIMFiction for a while is an ever-growing read later list, composed of a bunch of stories which looked interesting enough to mark “read later”, but which you were too lazy to read at that point in time, either because it wasn’t really that interesting, because you were pressed for time, or because it was simply fairly long and would require some actual commitment.

My Read It Later list is up to 1517 stories at the time of writing.

So I've been reading pony fanfiction for over four years now. That's... about a quarter of my natural life.

Fuck, I've wasted my life the best years of my youth gone I don't even-

Okay, that out of the way.

I'd like to make a compilation of some of the authors that made me want to be the author I have not yet become.

All of this chaos makes perfect sense · 11:21am Nov 5th, 2014

When I was young, I moved to Eugene, Oregon. I was always a smart kid, and I already knew how to read and write (and had for possibly several years even at that point). Now, Eugene is kind of an odd town, and it had some charter schools there, namely language immersion schools - schools where you spend half the day speaking (and learning) a second language. At the time, they had a Japanese, a Spanish, and a French immersion school. I was somewhat torn between the Japanese and French schools,

Read It Later Reviews #44 – Hope; Give A Like – Feed A Changeling; Sweat, Tears, and a Video; Marble’s Horizon; The Sex Shop · 3:39am Mar 24th, 2016

As with yesterday’s Read It Later reviews, four of the five stories in this set came from Scribblefest. As was the case yesterday, please note that my opinion on these stories is not the final word for that contest; we are merely in the preliminary round of judging, and three judges read each of these stories. I am but one of nine judges involved in this, so… yeah.

Anyway! Onto the reviews!

One laptop: free to good home (claimed!) · 6:51am Mar 12th, 2019

So far, March has been more than a little crazy. In between a job search, a Search & Rescue callout that lasted until 5 AM, a network failure at work, and a short-notice trip to help my parents with their taxes, my writing schedule has gotten completely shot. I'm finally sitting down at a coffee shop for the first time in a week, and I'm too distracted to add words to stories. So I might as well justify tonight's cuppa by passing on some positive karma.

BronyCon Blog post · 2:21pm Jul 11th, 2016

Ahh, hey guys this is the con post! Here I will tell you all bout the con, who I met and what I did, plus the stuff I bought. It was a blast except for the fact that the hotel didn't work. I attended two panels which I will mention below and met a ton of fellow writers.

I'm also extremely tempted to play becoming popular in the background. Always have cool music playing in the background even if your movie doesn't have hobbits. It also helps with writing but that's beside the point.

Holiday Story Reviews #1 –There Is Love Beyond What Lingers, Hearth Swarming Eve, Three Nights, A Canterlot Carol, Hearth’s Warming Cookies, The Season of Grace · 1:10pm Dec 26th, 2015

I made the fatal mistake this holiday season of overcommitting myself. I tried to get so many things done, I failed to get almost any of them done in time for my online friends.

But it is the holidays. And just as my mother orders things from Amazon and sometimes gets them on December 30th instead of the 24th, it is still part of the 12 days of Christmas, right?

That’s totally how it works, isn’t it? :trixieshiftright:

As a few of you have probably noticed, I am finally back in the writing business proper since Sunday, after three months of basically zero output courtesy of depressions that let my writing tempo slow down to a crawl. Fun fact of the day: everyone knows that the Japanese infamously produce very few children, presently sitting at a rate of about 1.4 births per woman (replacement rate is 2.1 per woman). But did you know that the US would have an even lower reproductive rate if we had a similar proportion of children born out of wedlock? Presently, the birth rate within marriages in the US is 1.13, with all the rest of the births (bringing us up to 1.88 per woman) occurring out of wedlock. Only 2% of Japanese
