Each month we will be spotlighting one pairing, or suggesting a writing prompt. As you may have seen on the main page, this month's area of focus is Sonata x Discord.

While sirens and changelings are very alike in their methods but complete opposites in their requirements, the sirens and Discord are closely matched in terms of the chaos they seek to spread. Various stories have made different things of this over the years, with one entity perhaps a parent of the other, an overlord/lady under whom the other fought for scraps, or a general entity responsible for the other's creation. And how that translates to the Equestria Girls world, if that's where you'd like to focus a story, is anyone's guess. But Adagio and Aria don't really seem the family sort, or those to willingly be near another powerful being, other than for the most pragmatic reasons. Especially a being as unpredictable as Discord. But Sonata seems more like someone who'd be sentimental about Discord, and his scheming might go entirely over her head. Sonata might have Pinkie's appreciation for Discord's antics, but without the limitation of the attached morals.

What would someone who has at times appeared as a literal puppet master respect in someone as easily led as Sonata? What would someone whose life's purpose is to sing harmony and be beautiful see in someone as misshapen and - yes - discordant as Discord? Here's a well-regarded sample of the ship, but we need you to write more! Maybe Sonata is the juvenile delinquent niece that Discord knows he really ought to cut off, but just can't face seeing that smile waver. Maybe Discord is the designated Redemption Fairy for the sirens, and the other two assign Sonata to distract him while they set up their escape plan. Maybe Sonata becomes the EG-Discord's Fluttershy, but influences him in the opposite direction, leading to an even more callous chaos god. Maybe Discord sets up and follows through on a plan to manipulate the sirens into achieving his goals, after which Sonata still doesn't cotton onto how she's been used, and won't leave him alone.
