In Dance Magic, the girls are washing cars and doing other odd “high school kid” jobs to earn money to repair Camp Everfree, but have earned only half of what they need. Rarity, searching for an idea to match the played-out ones of her friends, finds a store in the mall running a music video and dance competition. She has a winning idea involving multiple musical genres—and multiple costumes, of course—that will cost all they have earned for a chance at winning twice as much as they need. Unfortunately, Rarity is tricked into blabbing her ideas to Crystal Prep students also entering the competition, but lacking an idea. When this comes to light in addition to a certain lack of talent by both sets of competitors, it will take the magic of friendship to allow everyone to win.

Prompts:

A music label wants to book the entire act. Sour Sweet’s and Rainbow Dash’s egos clash so badly, the deal may fall through.

When the music video doesn’t win the prize, Spike comes up an idea to help dogs and their people to get along better so both teams can earn money for their causes. Except for Fluttershy, nobody thinks it will work.

Twilight realizes she has a responsibility to help her former classmates at Crystal Prep Academy understand the magic of friendship. One of her former male classmates thinks Crystal Prep has lost its competitive advantage when it lost Twilight and works to alienate Twilight from her new friends.

Extra credit (optional): The conflicting internal thoughts and external actions of a character can highlight an incredible struggle to do the right thing verses achieving desired results. Using first person or an omniscient narrator, focus deeply on your main character not doing what she is thinking.
