Season 4 of RWBY is almost upon us (and before you say anything, I know RWBY is an American made series, but many people consider it an anime). Unfortunately it can't run all year long. That's where Dreyc of DeviantArt and his team would like to come in. Inspired by Monty Oum's work, they're looking to create a series of their own which is now on Kickstarter for the pilot. As you've probably guessed by the title, it's called Paradigm Spiral. It's a sci-fi fantasy 2.5D anime styled series about some guys trying to save the world, probably...

The synopsis is like this:

The year is 20XX and unfortunately there aren't any robots that fight other robots and absorb their powers. However, there are cat girls (and dog girls)!

An alien animal anthro race called the Kin have come from another world to ours and created a place of their own named Techoon City. Not part of any country, the laws of man don't apply here. This makes it the perfect place of operations for humanity's underground businesses.

Enter Starwind Lagoon, a small group for hire lead by Dreyc Hawking, a vigilante trying to make it big by fighting off crime in the city. Joined by the city grown brawler Jehc, ex-special forces Licia, mafia princess Larein, and the Kin orphan Nau, will they be able make a difference or will Techoon City be doomed to become a hive of scum and villainy?

Meet the characters and cast!

They're looking to raise $50k for a 10 minute pilot which is not very much if you're not familiar with the cost of animation (Cannon Busters and Urbance raised $150k for their pilots). Production would start early next year.

The good news is that they already have nearly $7000 and 66 backers. The bad news is that there's only 4 days left (as of 11:21 pm Arizona time).

You're probably asking yourself 'Why should I care? The animation sucks and it's just a knockoff of RWBY.' Two reasons: 1) Just because it was inspired by the late Monty Oum's masterpiece doesn't make it a knockoff. Plus they're a small group with nowhere near the resources Rooster Teeth has. And don't forget that RWBY didn't have the best animation or voice acting in the beginning either. 2) The groups goal is to start an animation studio where both US and Japanese animators can work together and bring the best of both worlds to the table. We already know how successful such things are in the past (RWBY, Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra) so don't dismiss this series yet.

If you or someone else would like to support this series, here is the Kickstarter page. And here are the links to the official website and YouTube channel.

And here's the teaser:

And remember. They're a small group trying to start their own animation studio and create an animated series for you all to enjoy. They're ready to go into production with their series pilot and they need your help. Give them a chance to show you what they can do! Help make something great. Perhaps terrible, but great.
