Over the years since this series began, people have suggested many, many worlds to Tatsurou for use in the PWNYverse, quite a few of which have been rejected for reasons displayed on his main profile. In time, he has developed the following list of criteria. I've taken it and, going through the main comments section of his profile, applied it to all the series suggested there. (Note: Some have other reasons for being rejected; and I've turned two of his comments on the main page into sub-rules.)

The reasons for rejecting a world are:

* fails 1 (must be familiar with the world, or able to learn about it with minimal research)
* fails 2 (no suitable character to raise the PWNY) (a character who can "readily be characterized to be the parent unit with a predefined characterization".)
* fails 3 (insufficient timeline) (long version: "Must either have a completely undefined timeline, or a defined timeline covering at least a decade.")
* fails 4 (not a world he enjoys)
* fails 4.5 (“war simulator”, not a type he likes)
* fails 4.6 (horror/zombies; not a genre he likes)
* fails 5 (already used in something)

Worlds not using - games (note: basically, all of these are failed or no comment; one is a "could use if it had the right Equestrian):

Thank you.

And this is just from the main comments - I haven't even tried going through the reviews of the individual stories, or all the blogs.

The non-game settings list will have over 90 entries once I get it all sorted. (Which will mostly be alphabetizing and identifying the media form.)

And now, characters. Tatsurou has the following rules for them:

1. Has a strong connection to a main cast member.
2. Lives in Ponyville.
3. Has had characterized appearances (at least a speaking role) in multiple episodes (or movies). (The books and comics don't count for this rule due to his having no real means of accessing them, nor interest in doing so.)
4. I like them
5. I haven't used them before.
Must meet 4 and 5. Must meet at least one of the other three, 2 preferred.

* Characters declined (or in some cases just can’t think of a way to use) are:

Ahuizotl - fails 3 (and probably the rest).
Babs Seed - fails on 2. (Probably 3 as well - only has two appearances in-show, plus at least one in the comics.)
BonBon/Sweetie Drops - fails 3 (though she did get a dedicated book to herself and Lyra); fails 4.
Carrot Top/Golden Harvest - fails 3.
Button Mash - fails 3 (he has yet to even speak in-show)
Cheerilee - no plans at the moment and not likely to have any.
Cheese Sandwich - fails 3.
Daring Do - fails 2; fails 4. (Has said he “doesn’t have a good grip on her”.)
Diamond Tiara - doesn’t know who to have raise her.
Dinky Hooves - has bounced back and forth on an idea for her.
Doctor Whooves - considered for a fic of Time Turner being raised by Doctor Who, getting his own Tardis, and thus becoming Doctor Whooves.
Fancy Pants - fails on at least one or more unspecified criteria.
Filthy Rich - no comment.
Flim and Flam - fails 2; fails 4.
Flash Sentry - said no to using him.
Fluffle Puff - fan-made character.
Flurry Heart - fails 3.
Gabby the griffon - fails 3.
Lightning Dust - fails all points (being a one-time rival/foil to Rainbow does not qualify as a strong connection)
Little Strongheart - fails 2; fails 3.
Lyra Heartstrings - fails 3 (though she did get a dedicated book to herself and BonBon); fails 4.
Maneiac - fails 3.
Marble and Limestone Pie - fail 3.
Mayor Mare - fails on at least one or more unspecified criteria.
Nurse Redheart - no comment.
Pipsqueak - fails on at least one or more unspecified criteria.
Prince Blueblood - fails all requirements.
Silver Spoon - fails on at least one or more unspecified criteria.
Snowdrop - no comment; fan-made character.
Sparkler/Amethyst Star - fails 3.
The Cakes (Parents and/or twins) - fails on at least one or more unspecified criteria.
The Dazzlings - Only Sonata passes 4, and they all fail the other three, having only appeared in one movie.
The Flower Trio (Daisy, Roseluck, and Lily Valley) - fails 3 (shouting "The Horror" over and over again does not a fleshed out character make)
Thorax - needs more screentime. (He’s getting it in season 7 - there’s two episodes for him announced.)
Tree Hugger - fails 3 (has only appeared in one episode).
Twist - fails 3.
Zecora - couldn’t imagine a story to put her in, and can’t really do her rhymes.

Got everything right here, too.
6007331
One thing you should add...the character rules cover only appearances in show or movies, as I have no means - nor really interest - for reading the comics/books.
Other than that, got it all right.

would HOPE for a castlevania or mana series crossover as both have abundant histories and large choice of characters to choose from. I can understand not using a final fantasy setting as most plots of the series occur over a period of less than 1 year and I BELIEVE(don't quote) the longest story is 7 years long in the tactics world. just realized that Digimon was not on the list, is this an oversight or deliberate?

I would hope for a Bioshock: Infinite...another daughter for Booker and a sister for Elizabeth it would actually work...alternate timeline for B.I.

Watch Dogs isn't a War Simulator btw...it's a Vigilante-Type Story/Game which Tatsurou has used for Batman and another...I forgot -_-

In all fairness, Overwatch actually has a fairly extensive timeline taking all the comics and lore into account. Not really gonna try to argue in favor, though, there's still way too many questions about the world left unanswered.

6007349
Fixed that too.

6007342

just realized that Digimon was not on the list, is this an oversight or deliberate?

Nobody mentioned it in any of the profile comments I went through, and I checked them pretty thoroughly. If it wasn't mentioned there, I didn't add it here. (I think it would fail under insufficient timeline anyway.)

Huh, I didn't think about Eragon raising a pony. And in Tats' hands, that would be a truly epic story.

AnoneMouseJr
Group Admin

6007409
Actually, the character suggested was Saphira, raising Spike. However, he was already slated to be raised by Samus Aran (though "Another Hatchling" had yet to begin), which is why that one got rejected - no objections were made to the world itself in the post, which is why it's listed as "no comment". (Checking up on the series myself, I think it would fail under insufficient timeline - the entire series takes maybe three years, from the time her egg hatches to the end.)

Until next time...

I'm getting confused by the one rule about insufficient timeline especially for Kingdom Hearts that game has 9 seperate entries in the series.

So I'm trying to figure out what has a sufficient timeline as it seems to be all over the place when I look at the various games that reason is used for.

I mean the very first PWNY story kinda punches major holes in that rule on the grounds of Team Fortress 2 only having litteraly the one game and no timeline to speak of.

6007444
Yeah, kinda forgot about that.

6007461
The rule is either the timeline spans at least a decade, or is open to interpretation.

AnoneMouseJr
Group Admin

6007461
I've updated that section. The specific rule for timeline (as the saiyan brony said) is "Must either have a completely undefined timeline, or a defined timeline covering at least a decade." Most of the "insufficient timeline" ones just don't last long enough in-universe. (Team Fortress 2 qualifies under "completely undefined timeline", from what I know of it.)

Kingdom Hearts also has the issue that he's already used it for a non-PWNY fic, "Equestrian Hearts", and he doesn't like re-using worlds.

Until next time...
Anon e Mouse Jr.

6007493
So... He's killing his options simply because he's using worlds in side projects?

AnoneMouseJr
Group Admin

6007520
"Equestrian Hearts" pre-dates the first PWNYverse fic - it was all posted in 2013; Fortresshy didn't start until 2014.

There's also the issue of in-universe time (Kingdom Hearts 1 through 3 take place over the course of maybe two years; Birth By Sleep adds about ten years to that, but none of the main characters are really suitable for acting as parents during that time, unless Yen Sid or Mickey and Minnie serve in that role).

Until next time...
Anon e Mouse Jr.

6007532
Hmm you're right in that part.

I am interested in why Homeworld was rejected, other than it probably taking an insane time to put together, also with trying to find characters......Well. Anyway, still interested in reasons.

Also, Log Horizon would be an interesting one to see. Not sure if it matches timeline tho, really only seen the first season.......

Metro is a no? Hmm, I suppose, if it's Metro 2033, although personally I'd wait until Metro 2035: Exodus comes out to really put a definite answer on it. If Tatsurou doesn't enjoy it tho, I'm fine with that.

Doesn't enjoy Halo? Damn. Oh well, Tatsurou has still written alot of my PS2/earlier favorites, so I think I can forgive that.:pinkiehappy:

Alot of my other favorite suggestions I can see many other reasons for not doing, but I'm happy with what I get.

Kingdom Hearts - fails 3 (insufficient timeline); fails 5 (already used in something - “Equestrian Hearts”)

Considering the series stretches over 10 years (not even including Union Cross, which takes place hundreds of years before the first game), there's a good timeline. I suppose the problem is that there isn't a consistent character to raise a Pony in that timeframe. Maybe Master Yen Sid stumbles across a foal, and raises her while training Mickey. During the events of BBS, she is sent to bring Mickey back after he uses the Star Shard, and gets involved with Master Xehanorts plan. After this, put in a few years of fluff and character development. I imagine Pony will be distraught about not being able to help her friends before, so she'll want to learn how to wield a keyblade herself. Later, while Mickey is in the world of darkness during the events of the first game, the Pony is sent to keep an eye on Sora or Riku, and interfere's with events. Yeah, I could imagine that somewhat.

The main issue I see is that Kingdom Hearts is already a crossover, which drastically increases the number of characters involved. It also doesn't help that the story is already a clusterbuck. KH3 will probably make it worse by retconning a bunch of stuff. Now if we used the above idea, but used previous PWNY worlds... Phase 2 finale setup/finale?

EDIT: The post was already longer then I planned, but I forgot to say that Equestrian Hearts hasn't updated since 2013. It's Tat's rule though, so I'll respect that

Updating character post - added Marble and Limestone Pie (fail 3 - they've only had one real speaking appearance each).

Regardless of whether or not it leads to an appearance in this series, here's hoping they get more characterized appearances in the future (either in episode 24 of season 7, or anywhere in season 8)... especially Marble, because she's a sweet little one and I like her.

I call bull on the insufficient timeline. if you use any soul reaper you have at hundreds of years use. in poticuler if you use "hat & clogs"(I can't remember his real name) he was (no spoilers)forced to flee to the human world 100 years before the show and manga start.

What about any of the heroes from Boko no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia raising a PWNY? The first to come to mind is All Might since he could possibly do it. Then again, one of the teachers could raise a PWNY.

Kingdom Hearts - fails 3 (insufficient timeline); fails 5 (already used in something - “Equestrian Hearts”).

Point of order!

(Please bare in mind I haven't read the comments yet, so I'm unsure of if this has been addressed.)

The Kingdom Hearts timeline is in fact fairly large, and not only that but just a little creativity could see one of the Birth By Sleep characters raising a Pony. Aqua and Terra could both do it while also somewhat raising Ventus if you jiggered with the script a little.

Unless you're only counting the main three titles... which is not recommended as KH III ties all of the games together.

That said, I admit I have no response to it being used already, though I was under the impression that rule only applied to other PWNY-verse stories.

Comment posted by Brother Malachai deleted May 4th, 2020

I feel like this list should be updated, since several of these points don't work anymore

Out of curiosity would any of the Star Trek series work?:trixieshiftright:

Say for instance thunderlane (placeholder pony as I have no idea which would fit best) was also with the Borg during the time of Picard's capture.

Or better yet during the Voyager series the pony is saved from the Borg much like the instance with seven of nine (potential parent figure)?

:rainbowlaugh: Research would probably be a breeze considering the fandom.
