Classically speaking, darkness is associated with chaos and evil. Light is associated with goodness and order. Dark magic is often labelled "unholy" and considered to be used for harm. It is generally thought to corrupt its user.

But sometimes, that's just superstition. Or maybe there's a reason - perhaps dark magic is significantly more powerful, but inherently more dangerous?
