How's come y'all always write about Rainbow Dash playing the CoC game, and narrativize its UI and character creation/gameplay, rather than just dump a character into Mareth and make shit up as you go along? I've lost count of the number of times I've seen this setup - don't write about a character (it's usually Rainbow Dash for some reason) being handed a copy of the game and told to play it. Write about the character actually being taken there and forced to interact with the world and change as they do so. So much more interesting that way.
When we play the game we're one order of separation away from the actual stuff going on - the character is separated from us by the fact that we're playing a text-based game. That's actually a pretty big gap, too, since we don't even get any pictures besides those midgety pixel sprites in the corner of the page. When you write about it then you're adding another order of separation there and now we're that much more distanced from our character. Imagine the difference between reading about a guy going skydiving and actually going skydiving. Now imagine watching a movie where the lead character reads a book about someone skydiving. Not quite the same as actually hurling yourself out of an airplane, is it? Same principle.
Pardon my ranting. I feel like I've approved a dozen different crossovers with this same exact setup and this shit's got me heated. Every time it's a rollercoaster of emotion from "oh cool someone else knows this masterpiece of a game" to "oh come on not 'Rainbow Dash plays CoC' again." You guys are squandering a brilliant opportunity to make your favorite pone waifu dick around (literally) in a overly fetish-ridden sexual sandbox that's quite possibly the antithesis to a children's cartoon.
Wow, I honestly didn't realise this was such a common occurrence. Before I started writing my own story, the only CoC crossovers I could find on the site were Corruption of Sisters and Corruption of Elements (both located in this group's CoC folder, since I don't think I can link to NSFW stories here) So I honestly thought I was the first one to consider making it work as an actual video game.
I thought this site needed more of the depravity that is CoC, turns out I just couldn't find it. Somepony needs to tell the authors of these other stories to get their butts in this group, I wanna check them out now
3262487 Okay, so I tried searching all the different terms I could think of, but I couldn't find any CoC story on the site besides the five already in the group, only one of which stars Rainbow playing CoC as a game. And I went to page 10 of the Google search results, so you know I was trying!
Can you remember the titles of any of these stories? 'Cos you've really piqued my interest now.
(Also I remembered to write this as a reply this time because I forgot thread notifications were down sorry 'bout that)
3266127 Maybe some of them have been revoked or something. I swear I've seen at least half a dozen different "pony plays CoC" stories out there... maybe my memory is failing me.
3266354 Well, if they're out there, I'm sure they'll end up discovering this group sooner or later. Until then, I am going to continue believing myself to be original. Because writing a story which essentially follows itself through a different story is totally original shut up

That's hella depressing if you ask me.
