Yep, we've got a villain painfully based on President Trump, right down to the hairstyle. G5 is pretty much confirmed to be a vehicle for pushing progressive politics.

Conservatives are fascist. Progressive liberals good. I wonder when the inevitable episodes trashing Christians come out, or when one of the new characters is confirmed to be a translesbian aeroace demiqueer doobiesexual who gets mad that a hetero pony won't sleep with them and plays tonsil hockey with Sunny Starscout to ease her suffering?

Only time will tell.

My bad homie lemme change that

honestly, I couldn't see the references, and I saw simply a message of unity, that more things unite than divide us. The villain of paranoia trope is nothing new, and I hope that maybe things could be different.

Like you said, only time will tell.

I personally did not get that vibe at all. I wasn't that much of a fan on the one pegasus that stood way to far out of left field, but I did not at all get a sense of the 'conservative bad, liberal good.' I'll see what the show itself does though.

Makes me grateful I never paid a cent to see it. Not even on a Netflix account. Now I didn't see the resemblance at first. If anything, Sprout's actions reminded me more of Mad Maxine's actions or Crazy Nancy's at the end of '16 to early 17.

Compared to deputy Fife- I mean uh... Sprout.

Literally, his first official action as defacto SHERIFF, is to assemble the town into a blind, furious MOB. He even says in the lyrics, "let's enter a blind, irrational state" & "follow my orders brainlessly"

Let's not forget the social dynamic between Sunny and Hitch. A modern "progressive" character would never be friends with a cop. It goes against the narrative.

Just like watching old TV shows(and I despise TV 90% of the time), such as Happy Days, or M.A.S.H, I found it's easier to tolerate when you look at it through the perspective mirror. IE red is blue, left is right, etc.

On an upside. As mentioned in the video you linked, the Woke Twitter MOB flips out when you depict military uniforms, or anything else that doesn't fit their pathetic narrative. Kinda like how Sunny was treated... Huh... Or how Zipp hand to go "underground" because she couldn't take lying any longer. Also kinda funny how SHERIFF Hitch(a COP)is a good guy, when the Twitter MOB says "Pigs in a blanket, Fry 'em like bacon" , or "a thousand cops at the bottom of the sea is a good start” and the like.

So yes, it tried to be "progressive" and "woke". If you ask me, there's enough that I won't pay for it, but not enough to make me not see it. But that's my opinion. They took they're own actions, and copypasta'd a ponified Trump's face on their guy. In psychology, that's called "projection". Still makes me nervous about what's next though.

Frankly, it wasn't that bad. Yeah, there's certainly some projection with Sprout, especially with the hair and him being "Fascist", but it's not a firm Trump reference. I definitely wouldn't call him a Conservative, or any of the other bad guys for that matter (Except maybe the Pegasi Queen; Haven or something?). It's more a Paranoia, blind-fear kinda thing; that could be pinned on Trump, but again, it's nothing firm. Sunny definitely fits the "Progressive" archetype more than Sprout being a Trump reference, but that dynamic is still pretty weak. Like everything, Twitter is just blowing it out of proportion.

It could've been better, but definitely could've been worse. Just have to wait for the show, I guess.
